I bought 2 used ballasts and moguls that are 175 watt the ballast are pulse start I then bought 2 new ushio 14K 175 bulds that will not fire What am i doing wrong??????

Are you sure its a pulse start? Do you know the ANSI? Pics would help.
ipiniowa is who i got it from and he said it was a pulse start

I'm pretty sure ushios are pulse start bulbs...either something isn't hooked up right or he was mistaken. Do you have any other bulbs to try out? If its a pulse start ballast, it should have "M137" on it somewhere. If it's magnetic, it will have "M57."
The only thing on it is what i listed it fire the other 2 used bulbs i have 1 is a als sunburst 12k i think he said it was a hamilton and the other one the writng is scatched off it but it fires also????
I also forgot when it is up and running has a slight humm to the ballast

I'm thinking it is a m57 ballast. It is normal to have a slight hum on magnetic ballasts.
One more thing, was the ballast hot when you tried the ushios? it will take 10-15 minutes for them to cool before it will light any bulbs.

yes it does look like that and when i tried the ushios it did nothing not a noise a click a snap a buzz nothing just as if it wasnt plugged in but when i changed bulbs it came right on thanks ryan

I am looking for something more blue thats why i went with the 14k but one of the bulbs he gave me is awesome if i could only read the writing on it i would just order those.
Hey marcus i think my ballast just took a crap i put the used bulbs back in and turn it on i had to turn it off and on a couple of times before it would fire and once i shut it off it wont fire any more a guy on the sale forum has a brand new ice cap for sale with pics but when i go to the ice cap website the 175 that comes up does not look anything like his where do i order those ballasr are they meaning ice cap good and would they fire my ushios that i have thanks for all your help ryan

I know that you have been messing with this ballast thing for a while today. Is it possible that you have flipped it on and off enough that you just need to let it sit. I had that problem with them before. Sorry about the BS you are going through. If there is anything I can do let me know.
