Mexican Turbos --- play it forward

Have hair algae or just like a snail that can get as big as your fist? I have the solution...

4 slightly used Mexican Turbos. Certified hair algae eaters. I got some bad rock that grew tons of the stuff. 6 of these have stripped about 80lbs of rock bare of algae in 3 weeks. Problem is now that I'm afraid they might starve from lack of it. Looking to find a good home for 4 of them. All I ask is that you pass on any you don't need after they have completed their mission.

I live in Avon and you are free to pick them up there or I can bring to Friday's meeting (they should be ok for 4 hours in a bag in styrofoam, shouldn't they?)

I have a HUGE algae problem!!!! I have tried everything to get it under control. I would love to try them out for a spin. My tank is only 18 gal. so I don't know if I would need all 4. I am very new to the hobby, so I would need some education on how many would do the job. Let me know if their still available.

Hey Cindy.

Depends long term or short term. 4 of them would clean all the rocks in a long weekend. But they can be a bit distructive in smaller tanks. I think the biggest one is about 3" across. I have an unglued frag they kept knocking over.

If your tank is new, hair algae isn't unusual. It tends to go away with good water quality and a reasonable cleanup crew...and time.
