MH and Growth

I was just reading a thread and someone mentioned that they had frags in their tank and wanted extra growth. So he is changing from a Reeflux 12K to XM 10K. I will have a tank soon with mostly frags. So the question is whether I should keep my Iwaski 14-5K 175w and get the second, or try and sell it and get the Reeflux 12K 175w. I was planning on the Reeflux, but I would prefer for atleast a year to get better growth than color. Also I have 2 VHO actinics.

First I'd try & view a few different bulbs & decide what you find pleasing to the eye.Then check to see if that particular bulb is available in your wattage/ballast combination.Personally I'd go for color before growth rates anyday,I happen to like the white bulbs(10K) & therefore get good growth rates as a bonus-but if you prefer the more blue rated bulbs,then I'd stay with what you have.When it is time to change out your bulbs,you may decide you want to try a different K rating anyway.HTH.

The Iwasaki 14,000K bulbs are the highest par bulbs out there by a long shot. Even higher than thier 6500K bulbs. I have XM10,000K's and when they're needing changed I'm all over those Iwasaki's.
