im not ordering them today or anything (still recouping from the frag swap :p ) but soon ill be ordering new 250wSE bulbs and was wondering where u guys recomend me ordering them from, what brand ect... btw i think i wanna go with a 14k and i dont wanna brake the bank if u kno what i mean any suggestions?
 
12k reeflux too.

If you're looking for the blue of 14k, but want more growth out of your corals and nicer colors, then 12k reeflux are definitely the way to go. I prefer a whiter tank with the color being in the corals, so I got the 10k Reeflux and they're great too.
 
I bought mine from Premium Aquatics. They were like $63 or something. 2 bulbs came out to $130ish. If you find a cheaper price online, Premium Aquatics will meet their price, and are known for having great service.
 
I think the best looking SE I have seen so far is on Racermike's tank, Its a 10k reeflux if memory serves me correctly.

I agree. 10k reeflux with actinics or 12k reeflux without actinics.

I have the 12k reeflux on my frag tank and it has great color.

I'm running 12k with actinics and quite honestly having trouble adjusting to them. I've had 20 k bulbs for as long as I can remember and lass Kelvin seems weird.

I have to say this bulbs are by far the best in terms "white" bulbs there is.

The colors are crisp- I run them with full actinic sups.
I will give them a try for 6-8 months and perhaps go back to 20k if not satisfied- they are growing on me.
 
I agree with Steve. I vote for USHIO. I sat down with the rep at the swap and looked into their bulbs. Went out and bought 3 10K.
 
I use 250W Radiums 20K and I'm very happy with the growth and color they give.

I would go with Radiums, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

i use 12k reeflux + actinics. love the look. i see all colors but the tank is still very bright. It's a 29 biocube with a 24" 150 coralife MH+PC fixture for reference.
 
Man, how the mighty have fallen! Am i the last schmuck to be running Phoenix 14k's???

I had it between those and the 12k reeflux and went with the Phoenix. I am strongly considering the reeflux 12k's on the next switch but i LOVE the Phoenix 14k's!
 
Usually people prefer the Reeflux on SEs, and the Phoenix on DEs. That's why I suggested Reeflux at least. I wouldn't really suggest it for DEs as I have not heard sufficient good things.
 
i don't think i even need to run actinics with the 150 DE 12k reeflux. i see no justifiale difference to run them. i do so in an attempt to simulate dusk and dawn.
 
i run de phoenix 14k's. love em. but for single ended...the best bulbs i've liked were the reflux 12k. unless you're going to be adding actinics, then you could get away with any 10k bulb and still have it look good.
 
what would be everyone's suggestion for 150 DE then. I have it over a 30g tank w/ all types of corals. Also have supplemental T5s
