what would be everyone's suggestion for 150 DE then. I have it over a 30g tank w/ all types of corals. Also have supplemental T5s

I've got the 150w de phoenix 14k's and LOVE them. Color on them is really nice.

I run the Phoenix 14k's on my DE setup. I like it much better than the xm 10k that I bought and used for 3 weeks. I like the blue, but i would prefer just a tad of the Purple color band like you get from the SE Reeflux 10k. The problem I am having is that if I add a t5 actinic that runs on the purple side(left side of the spectrum) , then it washes out the colors.

Reeflux, reeflux LOL. I have used bot the SE and DE versions. The SE version look much nicer colorwise (10K). Growth is the same with either bulb. The SEs can be used without any actinics if you like. I see very little difference with my VHOs on or off, with the SE versions. The DEs need actinics though.

I have also used the 12K DE and it is very nice as well. Nice crisp blue white color. Better than the phoenix if you ask me. I have used that bulb in the past as well (hated it). I have a 3 month old phoenix if you like. LOL. I don' have a recent FTS but I will take on later to show what it looks like. Or you can stop by to see the tank if you like. The colors from the reeflux bulbs are amazing.

reeflux 12k.

well it sounds like 12k reeflux is the way to go now i just gotta save up a little $ ..... there wouldnt be such a rush to get new bulbs but right now i have a 20k xm bulb on one side and a 14k unknown bulb on the other and the differance is very noticable! i wouldnt even mind buying 2 used bulbs that match for now since $ is kinda tight... anyone got 2 used bulbs u wanna get rid of for cheap? or better yet free :p

what are u running 400's
If so most likely I will be getting rid of mine anytime soon and will let them go for a good price-3x400watts 12 reeflux 2 months old.

Erick I'm still on the fence with this reflux 12k even though I'm running them with actinic supps.

I've had radiums and XM20k. I truly don't remember the last time i had anything but 20k's.

I'll give them a couple of months - the colors are not what I expected.

I'll be keeping my electronic ballasts and perhaps go back to Radiums 20k.

Moral to the story if its not broken don't fix it.

Fair enough, but sometimes you've just got to try something new.

I've always loved the 20k color in your tank, but at the same time, I've grown to love the 10k look in my tank. As with everything else in this hobby, there's no right answer, just what works for you. I'm glad to see that you've tried something else, and ended up deciding it wasn't for you, and instead of knocking the 12ks, you just say "eh, they're not for me" and go back to what is for you, the 20ks. Very respectably done :)

I've been toying with the idea of trying out a pair of Radiums, since they're really only $20 a pop more than the Reeflux that I just replaced my bulbs with. Granted, growth will probably take a hit, but with the Luminarcs, it shouldn't be too heavy of a hit either.

They are great bulbs don't get me wrong I just don't think they are for me.

willc only time will tell.
