Every piece is beautiful. The red coral in the 2nd pic is very unique. The texture and coloration of the base looks like it is part chalice!
I do not know the type or commercial name of it but I would like to know that I may find a piece myself.

Thanks for posting all that you do.

Oh yeah!! The red purple lava flow Acro is crazy.
Also love how the rescue is coming along and the peachy orange of the Bali shortcake is making me covetous!!

Hey I'm sure this has been answered but I can't find it. Which kit do you use for strontium testing if you still don't do water changes ? Both of the ones I saw for sale have poor reviews

Man Matt, I am bummed to hear about the worms, but cannot tell by looking over your corals :) I have seen so many times an over reaction on treating, fact is they can be controlled by healthy corals that repair and encrust as fast as they can eat and lay eggs. That said, you can also blast your corals with a powerhead or turkey baster and get the fish to take a liking to them, I bet those chromis destroy the ones that fly off. Anyway, glad to see such vibrant colors and nitrate low again, simply beautiful man!

wow... just wow
as always!!
Cheers,
Flo
Thanks Flo!

Thanks very much! That coral is an AquaSD Cherry Blossom- its a very slow grower but its started growing a bit more lately and its getting the bluish edges now.

That is actually the "Yellow Dragon" rather than the Bali Shortcake. Its avery light fluorescent pink through the light parts of the branches thats hard to capture on film - very cool. Not very yellow, but looking like it does, I don't mind:)

I actually don't add Strontium any longer based on ReefVet's reccomendation, and didn't test for it when I did add it. I have also heard that the test kits are worthless.

Perry, I feel the same way - otherwise natural coral reefs would have been eaten a long time ago. More wrasses(still waiting on mini Yellow Coris wrasses), Flatworm Stop, and careful observation will see me through.

Dips of any suspect corals around the tank knocked loose a few worms from some of the corals. The corals I chose were suspects because of poor PE or color. About 50% had some adult flatworms but only the initial three had the whole range of sizes on them. No other corals besides those have shown any bite marks, most of the corals in the tank are looking pretty amazing actually.

I've tried blasting the corals in the tank but nothing came loose, but if something did it would immediately be gobbled up to be sure:p

Thanks Flo!

Thanks, so what do you supplement in that case if not strontium? I'm running a ca reactor and plan to add some mag to it, otherwise I don't add anything other than food at the moment

The Calcium Reactor supplies plenty of Strontium(and most of the other trace elements), just not as much as would be needed to reach NSW values. Less than NSW values of Strontium isn't dangerous, more than NSW values can make your corals grow faster or burn the heck out of them.
I supplement a few rapidly depleted elements like Zinc and Manganese using Aquaforest MicroE, and Iodine using Lugols. I used to also dose Flourine, but I ran out. I may get more depending on where colors go.

Man your yellow dragon is looking good man! Mine is one of my favorites, it's got an orange color with yellowish in the base and neon green tips. Since adding a zeo reactor it has really lightened up with more orange.

It's really cool- it used to freak me out a bit in the mornings when I looked at the tank- with the lighting off it looks like it bleached out. Very light, delicate colors, I love it!

Piper, do you have a pic of yours?
I'd love to see it..
Not hijack, Matt's thread but I'd love to see both yours and Matt's side by side.

I tried to take some with our new camera a few days ago, let me see how they turned out. If they are bad I will take some new ones.
