Mhucasey's SPS obsession

Right.. Ok. I guess I can wait. :)

I can tell you that the display tank that they had at Reef-a-palooza had some white bulbs on one side and the led tubes on the other and there was no visual difference between the sides. The LED side looked just like the T5s as far as spread, color, penetration. They have a pink bulb but I doubt that it will contain the same spectral elements of the T5 purple bulbs, but if it does, it will be very interesting...

I'm very excited to play around with those LEDs when they come out. What a cool idea. Excellent pick ups Matt!

Thanks, it was pretty cool watching the Rep bend and whack the E5 tube. A three year warranty and their price make these a very attractive option depending on the spectrum.

I like the soundbite "Your T5 will never be a T5 again". I need to look at spectrum charts of these tubes if they are available. I might be interested in "Blue pop".

Im primarily interested in those as well. The question will be whether the "Blue Pop" has any green to go with it like the blue T5 tubes. If not, they will add great blue fluorescence but will look somewhat dim. The rep said spectrum charts were coming soon.

Interesting.. About half the power.. I suspect 'blue pop' will be the most popular tube..
The spectral charts will be very interesting..
Although, I find spectral layouts for LEDs tend to be a bit misleading as LEDs have very sharp peaks at specific nm spots but manufacturers produce graduated displays like fluorescent lights produce even though the led may not be providing the light between the peaks...
At least this is my understanding... Not sure that makes sense..

Matt I am really interested in these LED E5 tubes. I'd be willing to buy a couple of the 15K and Blue tubes.

Nice pick up Matt what day did you go? Will have a video up soon for reef palooza.

I went Saturday, it was really hot out! Unfortunately one of the corals from Steve Garrett STNd but he offered to replace it for me. I'm meeting him tomorrow to pick up the replacement and I'll get a couple more while I'm there. I can't say enough good things about Steve's corals and the man himself:)

Me too, they could be a game changer, especially since you can mix them with regular tubes without modification to the fixture!

I had the pleasure of visiting Steve Garrett's Acro farm today! For a coral lover this was a drool-inducing visit. So many corals and such a big, amazing system.

Steve Garrett is a really nice guy and any time I can get corals from him I will take advatage. Steve replaced the Greg C Ultimate stag that STNd on me, and because of the difference in size between the that one and the one I got today he threw in another frag for free. I ended up buying three additional frags from him while I was there.

In total I picked up a blue Hyacinthus, a rainbow Hyacinthus, a pink Acropora Aspera, a blue and green Acropora Subulata, and The Greg C Acropora Exquisita. That makes 9 Acropora species I have from Steve, plenty more to collect!

I don't believe anything matt....pics of the frags,in the tank buddy....and one fts too,please:p:p:p

I envy your visit there:fun2:
