my refugium has been running for 2 years with no micro bubbles in my tank. the skimmer just pumps bubbles into the fuge and for some reason no bubbles leak into the tank untill 3 days ago. i replumbed the entire fuge with no luck my overflow goes into a 100 micron sock and my skimmer is now pumping into the same sock i have some space then a wall of rock and clorapa before the return pump. i am still leaking bubbles into the tank i have 2 questions

Q1. how do i stop the bubbles ?

Q2. why are bubbles bad?

i want to know if maybe i need a 50 micron sock or maybe a 200 but i just want the bubbles to stop. also i want the fast simple answer. if possible one that would require 10 minutes and 5 dollars to fix.

thank you for the help

Did something change with your skimmer?
Can you see where the bubbles are coming from?
Is it possible you have a leak in your return plumbing, or pump housing?

Well I am pretty new to reefs but one guess about not wanting bubles is for the pump. This will cause a pump to cavitate and break down much faster. Im sure it also has something to do with the tank but it's a free bump none the less.

did you use additives not used before? did you, change salt brand? is collection cup full? is 2 yrs. a missprint? if so a new skimmer will have MB's for sometime till it gets coated inside. i wash skimmers in HOT tap water till warm and it will stop the MB's or reduce them significantly. what brand skimmer do you have?

when i cleaned the reaction chamber in the skimmer it made a huge difference. the buildup on the sides causes resistance and forces some of the micro bubbles lower and into the return. i checked everything first as i didn't think it was very dirty, but it was the reason. good luck
