Micronesian hammer coral owners, How do you feed yours?

Hello Guys,

I have been trying to feed my hammer coral that is a Micronesian variant. These guys have really tightly packed tentacles and actually I can never see the mouth or the base of the tentacles. I tried to feed it a verity of foods but it never accepted any. Food basically stays on the tip of the tentacles and eventually either something else grab it or it simply drifts away. Is there a trick feeding these guys, like should I really blast the food under the tentacles?

Here is a picture from LA, showing how my coral exactly looks like.

Pretty much all of the Hammer corals I've had over the years never accepted any prepared food either. After awhile I just gave up. As long as your parameters are within reason and the lighting is sufficient these things don't really need to be fed though. If you want to continue trying just don't make a mess of the tank in the process. Overfeeding is the root of a lot of problems here at RC.

This has been my experience, too. I see everyone talking about feeding their LPS, but virtually none of mine accept direct feedings, hammers included.

Same here. My frag tank is fairly heavy stocked with hammers, torches, and frogs but none really seem to accept food. Usually it's just sloughed off. I just started dosing aminos and it seemed to help but other then that, nothing else. Like mentioned before, just maintain good parameters and stability and they will do just fine.
