Mike's 300 Double-D

Mike,

Tank is lookin awesome. You have helped me a lot with my build that I am workin on now. The wrasses are lookin very nice and seem to be settled in nicely. Any chance for a shot of your tank acclimation box. I am lookin into building/ buying one soon as my glass has finally arrived at the lfs. Now the welder is up, then unfortunately it is all time and money.

Almost looks like gem but no it isn't it's square tail bristletooth if im not mistaken Ctenochaetus truncatus, and it looks magnificent as do all the new wrasses !!

Well done!! Mike and Terry!!

!

!

Tank is looking amazing Mike! How do the Ushio's compare overall to the Radiums color-wise etc? Looks darn good to me. :D

Thank you Brett! The 14k ushio's are a big difference from the radiums. Much brighter, and much more white in the natural sunlight spectrum.

awesome pictures and tank!

We appreciate those kind words! Thank you!

Shane, it's great to hear that our thread has helped you with your build...truly that is something that we strive to do with this blog. We'll take a pic or two of the acclimation box and send 'em to you.

is that a gem tang?

The fish is a Kole Tang. We picked him up as a juvenile and have been really happy with his growth. He has been a model citizen so far. Check out that beak! :D

Hi Mike and Terry, i think your ID is wrong i have a kole tang ctenochaetus strigosus they have stripes not spots on the body they have spots on their face , yours is the squaretail bristletooth ctenochaetus truncatus also apparent by its tail which is more forked in a kole

here is a pic of my kole as you can see the body has stripes not spots irrespective it is a wonderful fish! and the tank looks incredible!

Kinlayan, thanks for the id correction and compliment. The bristletooth has been with us for 6 or so years now and is one of our favorites.

-Terry :D

Hey Mike & Terry, the tank is looking fantastic as usual. I forgot if you guys run 250W or 400W. I am also thinking of trying out the Ushios but bumping up to the 400 watters.

I just love the clean look to the whole thing. Wished I could get to my back wall and clean it up like yours. It sure makes a huge difference.

Just keeps getting better. I dream of a day when my sand will stay white again. Its been a diatom/cyano war ever since the new sand went in. How are the new girls(rhomboids doing?

You guys have a gorgeous tank. I would love to pattern my new build after yours. Would it be possible to get a fish list from u (maybe with pictures)? I love your livestock and would love to pickup a few for myself. Thanks

Thanks Kenny! It's not easy to reach back there to clean, but keeping it clean does give a nice contrast.

Words cannot describe the awesomeness that is your tank. Looks amazing Mike.

Thank you Brett, we appreciate the compliment!

beautiful tank!

Rodrigo, thank you for the compliment and taking the time to post in our thread!

Thank you Brett! Your tank is looking pretty sweet right now. We have a fantastic crew of (3) detritus eating sea cucumbers and (3) fighting conchs that are true work horses when it comes to taking care of our sand bed. The sea cucumbers are the only critters we've ever had that would actually eat cyano and dino's and we've had our oldest one for 8 years now.

Awesome! Great pics as always

Thanks LN!

are the ushio pictures of just the bulbs, or of a Ushio + Actinic?

hmmm... I'm not sure. We normally just run the MH's, but Terry was doing some experimenting w/the LED stunner strips, so they may have been on.

Maybe we should take some consecutive FTS shots and post them w/just the Ushio's, then Ushio's + LED's and Ushio's + Actinics to show the difference.
