You put this on the return line? I'm guessing under pressure with the pump one, no water flows out it because the check valve is backwards, right? Then, when the pressure stops (power loss or you turn pump off), the suction will open the check valve and suck air, thus breaking suction, right?
I might have to incorporate that into my 300g build I'm doing!
Exactly right. When pump is on the pressure keeps the valve closed, when the pump is turned off it sucks it open breaking the siphon. It works great. I cant take credit for it. I have to thank Marc "Meleves Reef" for the guidance on that. The reason the 90 is on the end it just incase the valve malfunctioned for some reason the water would shoot into the tank instead of spraying across the room.
