milkey water need help

I have a 55g drilled tank. I set it all up. I added the sand and the water. The water is very cloudy and milkey. I put plates down in the tank. So the water wouldnt move all the sand around. I have my sump running with a a cheap hang on the back filter with the sponge in it. To see if I can clear up the cloudiness. Any Ideas how long will this last. Its been a few days. And It still looks the same. I even shut my sump off. No luck. Please help

mine was cloudy for a week or so, it'll clear up and settle out. just give it time.

Don't worry too much. The microdust off the sand will just float for a few days and begin to settle. Everyone's looks like that at the start. Then it settles and begins to look very clear.
