Milli munching something

Has anyone got any ideas what would eat not just the flesh of my milli and a bit of my plating monti but also the skeletol structure? Its the kind of damage I would expect to see from a Trigger.

Both corals a fairly large colonies so they dont really suffer too much from the munching but what ever it is has devoured a good 1" stem from my milli, and nibbles at the edge of my purple plating monti from time to time.

All my fish a reef safe, Tang, gobie, wrasse, all the usual RS fish, I am not aware of any crabs either. I did have an emerald crab I thought was the suspect but he is now residing in my sum.

This only happens at night so fish related does not seem likely.

interesting - seem to have one of these but not near the milli it never leaves its tube may have to cap him off!

a crab would be my first guess

eunicids dont live in tube. Im not sure they actually eat sps corals either, but I have suspected one myslef of grinding some holes and dents in colonies becasue it wanted to. No proof and purely suspicion though.

My first thought was crab - may have to do some late night tank visits to keep watch

All my millis were randomly loosing patches I couldn't figure it out, one nite I was up and about not sleeping headed over to the tank and found a crab not only taking out the polyps but chunks of skeleton (ie mashing the tips). Since I moved the crab to the sump all millis super hairy, healed and no spotty issues.

I had an emerald crab that developed an expensive taste for SPS after a couple of years. Since he had gotten pretty large, it was quite easy for him to take "chunks" out. Large urchins will too...in the search for coralline they may mistake corals for it. What type of goby do you have?

I founf a huge black hairy crab living in my birdsnest I am giving him the label of prine suspect right now and set a tall tumbler trap last night, will go see what I have caught in a minute

Could be the crab...

There was another lady on here who found a 3ft worm that had been munching down her acros, skelletons and all.

I would put my money on a worm over the crab, but you never know.

my trap failed for the first time ever not relishing removing the colony to extract Yogy Bear from my birdsnest! Will give it a few more nights.

Not really seen any evidence of a worm, but then not looked. I will try and remove the usual suspect first and then see. Really hope not a worm!!
