I will have to look at getting those guards.

I always love looking at your pictures!
Thanks.
You will like those MP shields. I have a 30 gal cube QT reef, use a HOB skimmer and on over flow. I need to keep surface agitation. I use a MP10 with shield at 2 inches from the top. This solve the problem and no whirlpool to suck in air.

Just went through the thread and love everything about your tank, Minh. Great job and that picture with the two clowns between the anemones is probably one of the best picture I've ever seen on this forum.

I have a few questions. I have gen 1 radion and thinking about upgrading to gen 3 pro. Do you think it's worth it? Those shield covers for the vortech pump are very cool. Do they make the shield for mp40? I think these shield are also great for preventing anemones from getting suck in.

I don't think Christ at PicOAquariums.com have one for a MP20. He specialized for Nano and Pico Aquariums. Contact him (contact information on his website). He will make it for you. It works really well and you will love it.

Sorry, I just woke up and not fully awake when I tried to answer your post.

If you use one or two Radion, then I think upgrade is really worth it. Not only Ecotech upgrade your light, they clean and change the fans in the lights. If you use as many lights and I do then I am not sure. 270 is not a tiny amount. I keep my G1 Radions for my frag tank and the corals color up just as nice (2 Radions in a 40 breeder)

I checked with PicOAquarium.com. They don't have the MP40 shield listed. If you contact Christ, I am sure he will make one for you. He have the machinery to easily fabricate it if he have a mock up wet side. That was what he did for me. I send him my spare the wet side and he fabricated the MP60 shields for me, and send them to me. Nobody use MP40 and MP60 in Nano or Pico aquariums.
Christ is a really nice and easy guy to work with.

I got a few frags from Coral Gardens Aquaculture yesterday. They are very nice and is still adapting to my tank so I don't want to post picture of them yet. One of the coral is outstanding so I took a picture of it and post it here

Thanks Minh for all the info. Sounds like I should send in my unit for the upgrade. Can I also can a higher resolution picture of the clowns? Love that picture, will pm you my email right now. Thanks!

Can we get a copy of your lighting schedule? Also, what is your thoughts on lighting cycles and color spectrums?

I used VHO and PC before and was never happy with them. The light tubes degraded too fast. I used excusively MH for 10 years or so but problem with heat and an electrict bill that really bite due to chiller and lights. When LED come out, I hesitated for a long time because I knew that just Blue and White is not going to cut it for corals.
Finally when full spectrum LED light come out, I jumped in. My 320 is lighted by 6 Radions four G3 Pro and two G2. I have long work hours so I start my light at 5:30 AM and ended at 9:00 PM. From 5:30 to 7:30 the light go from 0% to 100% and dim down from 7:00-9:00 PM from 100% to 0%. Moon light cycle is on. Brightness of the moon light depends on moon cycle from complete darkness to fairly bright full moon.

I am trying to simulate natural moon light and see if I can get the Gigantea to spawn.

With the light on 100%, PAR at the bottom of the tank is about 400 and 650 or so on top of the rock structure peak. My tank have very high light though out. There are lower light animals I keep. I have to put them in the shadow somewhere.

I hope this answer your question.

I cannot believe it. My Yellow eye Kole tang is beating up on my Powder Blue taand.
I added my last tang into the tank about 5 days ago. Everything was fine until last night. Long term, greater than 1 year, I had a Yellow, Purple and Foxface. I added a Yellow eye Kole about 2 months ago. I had a longterm Powder Blue tang but had to remove him when I added the Regal angel and CBB. I put him in my frag tank then sold him to a reefer who really wanted Powder Blue. I got another Powder Blue and put him in my frag tang for about 2 months. I got him happy and fat there prior to put him into the DT.

Everything were fine for a few days. The larger, older tangs and foxface only give my PBT a day worth of problem, not enough to keep him from eating or being happy. Just slight nick on the fin. Size wise, the Foxface 6 inches, Purple 5 inches, Yellow 4.5 inches, PB 3.5, Kole 3.
Last nigh was near full moon so my tank was lighted with full moon all night (Radion Program). The Kole and PB wanted the same cave and were going at it all night. This morning both tangs fins are shredded. The PB seem to get the worst end of the two because his fins are more torn and he has a nasty wound on the side.

I cannot believe that my Kole give the PB so much trouble, This was really unexpected. I would have though the Purple would be the one, if any. I have to follow closely and see if I need to do anything. I hope I don't have to remove one of the two.
