Minh's 320 reef

I kept thinking "please don't let it be the tusk, please don't let it be the tusk." I feel guilty for thinking it too.

Below is a picture of my Purple Magnifica this AM. My cell phone just not able to capture the magnificent of this anemone. I have not feed him because I do not want him to out growth his place.
To the side, you see my tank's pig (I mean Foxface :)). As you can see, his body thickness is 1/2 of his body height.

Better picture of my Regal Angel this AM. The second picture really show how fat (s)he. I think I have a Female since the spike is small, but she is young, just lost her false eye spot a few months ago.

Sorry about your loss. Funny how we pick favorites and then when something happens .......

The Kole Tang in my tank is one of the earliest introductions. He used to be a bully, but now he's a model citizen. A friend of mine said he thinks god was thinking of cartoons when he made them. Hahahaha

That Regal Angel is a real beauty. Nothing better than seeing a fat fish. Keeps them healthy and happy :)

Beautiful Regal Minh!

I also love your Mag. They are definitely one of my favorites. Just starting to plan for a larger tank and a Mag will be on the list.

Thanks.

I am having a Chevron Tang in the sump. I got him from a frined about 3 months ago. About 5 inches or so. Very fat and beautiful. My friend wanted to add some very nice and more expensive tang into his tank, and wanted to remove the Chevron to make sure there is no fish that will harass this new addition.
Anyway, because he is in my sump, I cannot take good picture of him. I am trying to trap him right now so I can put him into the DT. Very beautiful adult color Chevron tang.

I just added a Chevron tang into my tank last week. I have had this Chevron in my sump for a few months, eating well from a Nori clip and frozen and flake food. I got him from a friend who wanted to added a more expensive fish t his tank and afraid that the Chevron will harassed it.
Any predictable, the Chevron tang, the largest tang in the tank at this time, was bother and driven to the rock by my other tangs. I have to put a food clip on a stick to where he is hiding and he have been eating well even if he is in hiding fro the other tangs. I think in a few weeks, he will venture out and be a normal tank citizen.
No significant injury, just a few scratches on the body and several split in his fins. Witj a;; the food he can eat, and he have been eating a lot, I think he will be fine in a few months

I got a Red/Burgundy with yellow tentacle tips Magnifica from Petco last week. 5 days in QT with no deflation what so ever, so he go into DT last night. Here is his picture this AM. I have not feed him yet, but will likely do so in the next few days. Just a small piece of shrimp or fish. He seem to catch flakes and mysis but I am not sue how much he ate.
He is a little bleach but otherwise seem healthy.

I need to start going by Petco more often, I guess! Never seen anything that great there myself. Really awesome Mag Minh. Love the column color.

Beggar can't be choosy. I have to get my anemones where ever I can. The MO often does not work out often for me. Only 1/3 of my current anemones were mail ordered. I lost many along the way.
Fortunately, Petco here in Corpus Christi have a pretty good Aquarium manager and I got several really good anemones there.

I bet the Petco manager likes fish and that makes all the difference. It's good you have that option.

Now that you mention it, I think my anemone experience is similar. The LFS anemones have done well for me. Also, FJW and others up here usually carry a variety of clowns and anemones so we are fortunate in that regard.

Nice pickup. I did not get a chance to go look at my local petco. Rats... Missed out I bet.

There were another nice Magnifica. Light purple column with white tipped tentacles. I came back monday. If he was there still I would have got him but all were sold. the Corpus Petco got a total of 5 pushed Magnifica. The one I got and the light purple were the nicest.

The guilty party involved in the killing of my Kole tang is my Red Haddoni. He exploded is size last week. He easily added 2 inches to his diameter after eating the tang.

Well, I though I was careful but not enough. Last night I spotted spiders in my tank that are eating my Acro. I also spot Monti eating Nudi in my tank last night also. Talk about bad news. This is a huge set back for me. I never get these pests before so did not really know how to look for them. I though I can learn from other people mistake. Apparently not. :(

I am going to reset up my QT system. Once stable, I will frag some of my nicer corals and kill the rest.
How long do you guys think that I should leave my tank coral free to kill the Nudi and Spiders? I plan to starve them to death, then re introduce my SPS. I got an idea how I got my spiders but not sure on the Nudi unless they come in hitch hike on a Acro then jump on to my Monti.

These things can come in on rocks or plugs from any invert. Some parasites even come in on snail or clam shells. I would wait a minimum of 40-50 days to quarantine. Some people will wait up to eight weeks, including weekly dips. Some of these parasites are in egg form so just one dip will not kill them all. You have to keep dipping throughout the quarantine phase.
