Minh's Purple Magnifica

Its been awhile since I've been on here, but I must say, nice anemone! I dont know how you manage to find these guys so well. About 2 years ago, I found a 4 inch mag, bought it for $50, it has a pink base on it, turned purple and was a great anemone. Passed away in a tank transfer.

Current picture as of a few days ago. I am not sure why I cannot get the color right. Under 10,000 K light it is more green that show on this picture. Anyway it look a lot better in person. Really healthy and eating well. Getting a bit bigger too.

Minh, that is completely awesome!! May I ask you what your current water params are with this anemone? I noticed my nitrates slowly creeping up (undetectable to about 25 ppm) and my second mag decided to go for a swim and got mangled by the intake screen on my closed loop. I'm so bummed about losing a second one that I am going to take some time away from anemones and work on fixing my parameters for a while. Just wanted to see some actual parameters posted with a successful mag thriving in a tank. Thanks alot!!

I set my temp at 82 degree and salinity at 35 ppt. I don't check anything else. I have never check Nitrates but when I check them many years ago, they way I keep the tank always result in not detectable nitrates. I add two part additive with mag as recommended by BRS. My SPS and Coraline seem to be growing well and the sand does not solidify.
I do change the water fairly often about 25% every month.

I am sorry to not report my parameter but I just don't check them, other than eyeball the animals.

My Magnifica had an encounter with a bristleworm last night. I happen to tool at the tank at about 1 AM and saw what pictured below. The worm was large about 8-10 inches. It lost all of it's bristle to the clowns and the anemone. I released the worm and it went slinking away. Also below it a picture of the anemone this AM. I think he will get better over the next few days.
I have no idea how the worm got caught by the anemone. Maybe one of the PH blow the worm and it land on the anemone.

I hope the nem and the clowns are ok.

Did you release this abomination in your tank ?

It craw back under the rock. I hope it will be fine too. Bristle worms are fine. I will fight tooth and nail too if something trying to eat me. The bristle worms do not have any teeth but they had planty of bristles. This particular worm hardly have any lelf after the encounter. Naked brisle worm :)

Here is a update picture, 20 hrs after the bristleworm encounter

Here is a pictures about 40+ hrs after the encounter. The mouth is still open, how ever the anemone and the clowns are better. The clowns have lost all the bristle, and the anemone also lost all the bristle. The anemone is not well but is improving. The mouth is open, but is getting better.
As long as it is improving, I think the best I can do is to leave him in the DT to recover. I guess it was a big battle. That night, he was absolutely covered with the bristles.
