Mini carpet removal...

I purchased a mini carpet off here about 6-8 months ago and now I have 30. They are starting to encroach on sps and I'm wanting to remove them. Anyone have experience with the removal of these little guys

They are difficult to remove for sure. I find it easier if I can remove the rock from the water and let the minis hang (upside down) for about 15 minutes. I find and edge of the foot and peel it off. The type of rock makes a difference. They tend to bury the foot deep into holes. I had some very stubborn ones where I had to cut the rock.
Other suggestions have been to feed them and they close up making it easier to get to the foot or point a powerhead at them never had luck with these methods. If they are crowded together it is even more difficult to find the base. Good luck.

I've read that people use powerheads to blast at the foot of a nem to make it uncomfortable and peel off on its own, but that doesnt seem feasible with something as small as a mini. I have also read of people using ice and placing it at the edge of its foot to get it too move, but I havent ventured to try that.

I just picked a mini carpet nem up from the LFS and he just peeled it off but was really gentle. It was super sticky and even stuck to the bag on the way home!

I have 30 of them. Do not ice the foot. I killed one with that method. Point a powerhead at it before lights go off and it will slowly move. Check in on it till u can easily peel it.

Mini Tapetum does not bother my SPS. Are you sure that is what you got? I got a numbers of these in my tank from the few I purchased a few years ago. They are in all my tanks. I have yet see them bother anything.

A local up here was selling a bunch of them and removed the rock and lightly tapped with a hammer and off they fell..just another idea.
