mini carpets

I remember reading something that said that, but I've heard horror stories of sexies eating polyps. Is that the only invert or are there any fish?

There are also the little anemone shrimp. Don't know what they're called, I think they're usually just called anemone shrimp. they're clear and purple

Anemone/porcelain crabs do well in my maxi carpets along with sexy shrimp. if you keep shrimp well fed, may need to target feed, they should be fine. I have a maxi nem dedicated tank with just the sexy shrimp and one anemone crab. I feed every day with sinking food, and they leave the few zoas I have in there alone for the most part.

I think you're thinking of the periclimenes family. They are commensal with anemones, but the pictures I've seen of them are always in longer-tentacled nems like condylactis. I don't know if they would take to s. tapetum. I think Sexies are probably a better bet. I've heard of sexy shrimp being a problem with zoanthids, but don't have any first-hand experience with that.

I had a Periclimenes brevicarpalis on my mini carpet. It never left the anemone and the anemone never liked the shrimp. My anemone stayed small the whole time I had the shrimp and as soon as I removed the shrimp the anemone went back to normal..just my odd experience!

The white with red spots porcelain crabs will associate with them too. I haven't seen too much luck with the purplish striped kind.

I have anemone shrimp that won't leave my maxi minis and just like you my maxi minis do not like them. They will shrink up and are now starting to lose some color.

yeah that's exactly what happened. My maxi mini became a lot darker in color once after the shrimp was taken out. Very interesting!
