mini tunze 6025 problem

I bought a mini tunze for my new 65g seahorse tank. Placed it into the tank on Monday and yesterday evening it started clicking. I took it out and looked at it. Made sure nothing was below the impeller. It was perfectly clean. Placed it back and the impeller keeps hitting the front of the casing. It will not seed into the motor at all. Not sure if the motor is faulty as the impeller looks fine. Is there something I can do at this point?

Did it work at any point? There are a lot of possibilities, it may be old stock, pump from late 2006 through mid 2007 had a high defect rate. It could have a 50Hz propeller which will not run reliably at 60Hz US power, it is also possible something is stuck between the shaft and propeller assembly. Any chance of posting or email some pictures of the propeller assembly?

It did work. It worked when I originally tested it and then when I placed it into the tank on Monday. Then Tuesday evening it started to click. I will take a few pics when I get home today from work.

If it worked at first, we can probably rule out a wrong propeller and it would most likely be an older pump (the photo will show this) or something has just gotten snagged between the prop and shaft. I have seen anything from a thread, to hair algae to human hair or sand cause this.

here is a photo.

That looks correct and is a newer pump but I need to see the propeller assembly mostly, can I get a photo of it outside the pump and seperate?

No, it looks normal, does it happen to have any small cracks in the magnet, a crack would cause two N and S poles so it would bounce around and not spin.

Did you happen to buy it at FIsh and Other Ichthy Things? John is pretty good with figuring these things out and he is near you and may be a big help.

No, no cracks in the magnet. Stephen Boyd bought it from John and I bought it a few weeks ago from Stephen. I tested it and it was fine. Then after a couple of days it started to click.
I will take it to John soon. Could it possibly be a problem with the motor?

I won't say an electrical problem is impossible, but it is something I have never seen before, it is a very simple pump, it just has an electromagnetic coil and no electronics.
