Minimalist Aquascaping

I never said that any of the tanks looked bad, infact they all look great. Magnets are just one of my reef keeping pet peeves.

uhuru, that's a great tank setup. You should try and contact the tank's owner though, to make sure it's okay with him/her that you're posting it here.

he had a thread here (from the archives):

http://www.reefcentral.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1181892&perpage=25&pagenumber=20

but if you really think its inappropriate I guess we can ask a mod to remove the pic?? I can no longer edit that post. I have talked to him before though (through another forum) and I really don't think he would mind. If he didn't want people to see it he would have taken that pic down since its hosted by his own webpage.

I believe he was asking about rock work being minimalist. My bad for have a magnet in the pic, geez.

I personally have no problem whatsoever with a magnet on the glass. I keep one on there most of the time as well.

I also find it hard to believe that you can have clean glass without scraping or using a magnet of some sort. :)

Let's keep this thread positive, and relaxing, as minimalist aquascaping goes ;)

i dont take magnet out cause if i did the razor would rust, E i have pic's on MR havent figured out how to load them yet, i have always went with little rock, but nice shaped ( minly cause i am cheap ) leave more open space for fish and corals and flow

I can't find his thread on this forum and I don't think I'm allowed to link other reef forums

He is local to me. He broke down his tank unfortunately. One of my favs as well. :(

That's really a shame. Excellent looking tank.

I very little rock for the same reason. Basically upgraded tanks and didnt want to pay for more rock. I rather have the money for corals or fish.ha

Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Too many people cram their tanks with too many rocks. The more open space you have the better.

On my next tank I will be using the same amount of rock I am using now. I will be going from a 48x24x20 rimless into a 72x36x20 rimless so I should have plenty of open sand and space. Once the corals grow out it will look great!

Oh, and BTW I need to post a new picture as the two Tunzes on the right have been replaced by another Vortech. It looks MUCH cleaner and sleeker now. ;) No more wires in my tank!!!! :D

SunnyX, approximately how many pounds of rock are we looking at in that tank?

Based on the dimensions, it's about a 75 gallon, right?

It is 100gl. Same size as a standard 120gl only 4" shallower.

I sold off quite a bit of rock from my old tank so I am guessing that I have about 60lbs of rock??

I dose bacteria and vodka so the rock is really secondary in terms of filtration. Many tanks in Japan are run with NO rock at all.

Really nice stuff here. I have to say I like stripevt's the best, even if the tank is just starting out. Looks very natural.

I also like the purdy blue lighting, haha.
