The March meeting was held on 3/20/2010 at Dana's house.
Members in attendance were:
Eddie, Dana, Janie, Scott, Joel, David, Travis, Olivia, Matt, Seth, and we welcomed new member James (Bluestarfish).
President Eddie opened the meeting with discussion of the upcoming June Frag Swap.
Travis volunteered to bring a tank set up for the club.
Members signed up to contact vendors for sponsorships and will report back with their progress.
Volunteers will be needed to help set up Friday evening and throughout the swap.
It was suggested that 5 raffle tickets be given to any new members joining at the swap.
Copies of the flier designed by Donny are available for members to take and distribute. .
A proposal was made to make ammendments to the By-Laws in Article III sections 5 and 8, and , since the swap and elections both fall in June, to change the membership year to September1 through August 31. These will be presented in writing and voted on at the April meeting.
Following the treasurers report suggestions were made as to how to spend funds to benifit the club, such as:
Group buys of salt or other goods; Obtaining 'high end" corals ; purchasing a Phosphate meter; or holding a club party or dinner.
Joel affered to donate a flow meter and Travis a TDS meter for club use.
We are looking into holding a meeting, possibly Augusts, at Ripley's Aquarium followed by a picnic in the park, and April's meeting at Aquatic Marine in order to have a more public venue that may bring out new members.
We ended the meeting with a " Swap and Grab " mini frag swap were everyone went home with a little something new for the tank.
The Mexican themed banquet provided by the members was an epicurian's delight for all lovers of spices and cheese! Thanks Dana for the Quesadilla making lessons.
Dana's husband, Richard, also provided live entertainment way into the night with his Mountain Music musicians.
A good time was had by all and there was much productive discussion on how to keep club interest going and growing.
