Hey guys, Question. I got me a pair of misbar perculas. I got for very cheap. But, I really wanted the the standard, Occellaris clowns, especially since there more hardier than perculas, and, since you cant put both types together, (even tho there juviniles right now), but dont want the aggression later on down the road... Was just curious, I was wanting to trade my misbars in, for some occellaris. Are the Mis-Bars worth more money than just the standard Occellaris? I just done want to get screwed over thats all. And since I got the pair of misbars for $10. Was just curious... Thanks guys...

Well misbars used to be considered lower quality and were cheaper. Now a days the throw fancy name on them and charge more.

Breeders used to wory about misbars because it usually meant something was wrong like lack of nutrition.

Or bad water quality. When I first started breeding clowns I would get quite a few mis-bars. I was ashamed to sell them. By the time I stopped breeding I was able to get down to about 1% mis-bars, a feat of which I was quite proud. I guess I shouldn't have worked so hard. :hmm2:

I thought percula clowns developed the 3rd strip later than ocelaris? At least mine did. How big are your clowns? I've seen the LFS selling very small percs as misbars when really they just haven't developed the third strip yet.

There pretty small about 1-1/2" big, there the smallest fish in my tank, with exception of my tiny chromis. But Im taking the misbars to my LFS tomorrow, cause Im getting a Lionfish.
