Mixing Anemones

Is it possible to mix different species of sea anemones such as
E. Quadricolor, M. Doreensis, H. Crispa, H. Magnifica or even S. Haddoni. I was not thinking of adding all these to the same tank but they are the ones I am most interested in. Any input or experiences would be helpful. Thanks as always

Thanks for the info apayne. Do you have any pics of them. Also are they near each other in the tank and how long have they been together?

There are pics in my gallery. At the moment they are about 12" away from eachother and I have had them for since November of 06.
Hope this helps,
Aaron

This Crispa and Hadoni lived together for a very long time, until the Crispa ended up upside down on top of the Hadoni. The Crispa did not make it. I believe there is always a risk when adding different species of anemones to the same tank. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

poor color is my lack of camera skills!

As long as they don't touch and you have room for growth you should be fine.
Here's mine, LTA and sebae.

Thanks elegance coral. Excellent pic. What size tank were they in?

Thanks. It's a standard 55 gl. If I were ever to add another large species of host anemone to this tank I would arrange the rocks to make it more difficult for them to come into contact with each other in case someone decided to move.
If I were planning a system for more than one species of host anemone I would avoid Hadoni. There aren't many animals that would survive an encounter with one of these.

I think it's ok for Anemones to come in contact even? I'm not sure about different species but at my LFS he has a bunch of BTA/flower anemones and they have all been touching for months but are doing perfectly fine.

I have seen them in stores and seaworld where they are touching. I am sure it has to do with families or such.

rock work won't stop them from moving anywhere, just ask my valida and digi! They will strecth through and around opening and such!

I also think that the family type plays a big role in the touch factor. I have 2 GBTA, 1 RBTA, and 1 LTA in my 90. The BTAs touch from time to time and it doesn't seem to bother them. I've seen the LTA and a BTA touch and not seem to bother them either. LTAs prefer touching sandbed and the BTAs don't so those 2 touching are pretty rare.

One of my GBTAs decided to let go and drift one day and he drifted right into my maze brain coral. Most people would say well your maze brain would be lucky to survive that. I had to pull them apart and I found that my maze brain had eaten half of my bta. Maybe he will stay put now that hes half the nem he used to be hahah.
