Mixing clown species

I woke up Saturday morning to find one of my clowns dead on the tank screen. How he ended up there is another matter.

So that leaves me with one juvenile Ocellaris. I've heard it's not best to mix species but I was wondering if a Percula would be ok.

I just did

I have pair Percula and Ocellarist before. When they mature, the initial pairing was difficult. Much more so than when I pair fish of the same species as far as Percula and Ocellaris pairing concern.
The male got beat up pretty bad, but they eventually paired. IMO, this is because the dominant and submissive signal may not be as correct as it should. Because of this reason, the pairing took longer and the smaller fish got traumatized more than it should. Just my opinion for trying to pair multiple same species and several cross species pair between Ocellaris and Percula.

I've got a onyx (female) and snowflake (male) pair. I had the onyx for about a year and a half before I got the snowflake who was much smaller. They took to each other very quickly with very little aggression. They've been together for about 2 years now and just started laying eggs. I doubt I'll ever try to raise the fry but I have offered the eggs to locals who would like to try and raise them.
