Hi
UK Reefer here
I'm just setting up a tank with the dimensions :
Main Tank 700l x 300d x 900h = theoretical volume 165 litres
Tunze Compact Kit 18 sump - 90 x 320 x 460 mm = theoretical volume 45 litres
Feed to sump will be from a single 50mm durso. Return pump is a Tunze recirculation pump rated at 400-300L/h so with 3 x 90deg bends and 1 x 45deg bend I think I'm getting about 8-900L/H at 1.7m head- I am probably way off!! In addition there's a Tunze 6025 2,800 l/h to suppliment.
Filtration - Lots of LR and a Tunze DOC Skimmer 9011 which is rated at 1100L. Also considering bio-pellets.
The tank is running but still in the planning stages, but now I have some questions I'm hoping you guys can help me with.
1) Can I mix Tubastrea (and poss other NPS - need to do more research) with LPS like Dunanopsammia, Goniopora, Euphyllia, Caulastrea, and maybe some mushies and Zoas?
2) Thinking of the corals above, assuming mixing these will be ok and I manage feeding well, would a more milder flow be suitable? - I was initially thinking of adding a Vortech MP10.
3) Lighting. I could fit two or three T5s above the tank - halide is out due to heat above the tank, which is kind of why I'm moving towards part NPS. Does anyone see a problem with lighting a tank like this? I know Sun corals might not enjoy the light but I'm hoping to heavily feed...
Any general thoughts or advice would be great....I've got a build thread on a UK forum - would it be worth adding here>?>
Thanks
