Hey WZHANG (and others) I have been contemplating how to finish off my aquarium stand/canopy and thought maybe I would ask you guys for your opinion. Its certainly not the most modern of designs but I figure this is about the only place I could get a bunch of opinions from great designers! Plus the thread has really turned into more of a style thread than strictly modern 
Anyways, today while I was suppose to be working in photoshop for work, I decided to quickly edit a picture to give you guys an idea of what the intended design WAS and what it actually is now (unfinished) and what I was contemplating.
So anyways, 1. is how it looks now 2. is how it was intended to look 3. is what I am contemplating
1&2 are straight forward...Just paint.
3 though would be loosing the canopy and changing the lighting to either a few pendants or a fixture like I threw in there. The idea here is to help with heat issues I think I may have in the summer and get back to an open top aquarium that I miss. My main concern though if I do this is how to hang the pendant? I do not want to do it through the ceiling because I live in a condo and its too hard. I was thinking wall brackets of some sort...Any ideas???
Any input really would be awesome, as I really value all your opinions. Feel free to go in a different direction even...Im really just looking for inspiration. To be honest, this thread has made me want to tear this tank down and start again, which I may end up doing before summer if I don't come up with a way of "fixing" this one.

#3 for me. Love the room as well! Very nice! Is that a real art frame or is that drawn in? Also, do me a favor and reverse the colors on the stand. Make the borders black and walls white. The white competes with the colors of the aquarium right above it. You want the attention to go straight to your colorful tank.

I have my 90 gallon full of rock and corals (mostly Soft and LPS's and some clams). I like the look of the tanks here with the open areas. I have a lot of tonga that I can move to my 50 gallon. Left over would be a large triangle shelf pieces and some large figi that I would almost call show pieces.
I am pondering on how to get the shelf rock mounted in the corner about half way up the glass. Then have a DSB with two small islands of rock in the middle. Leaving the rest completely open. I have a manufactured Stand and Canopy that I have been thinking of ditching and building something nice in my dining area for the 90 and the 50 gallon together.
Things are just going around and around in my head. I got to put some in CAD and see what it might look like.

I would suggest sticking with #1, or keeping it all white with the hanging pendent. You already have the black and white contrast of the bangaii painting, which looks good...but the extra contrast in 2&3 makes it overly loud for the room. ( do you want your eyes drawn to your tank, or your stand?)

Any pendant (s) I hang would be white for sure. Im still wondering about hanging them though and how it may look since I do not want to hang them from the ceiling...Actually I can't hang them from the ceiling.
Heres another pic of the room as a whole if that helps...Its a small room, so it can get busy pretty quick!
Maybe number 3 with no black in the stand and a white pendant? Or even better, 2 white pendants...

I like #3 with either all-white or all-black stand, or a nice, darker wood laminate stand.
The pendant lights are relatively light, so you should be able to hang them with some butterfly screws - no need to climb into the ceiling
Personally, i don't mind if attention is drawn to the stand as well, as I see the tank/stand as a piece of furniture. JMO though
