mods to 6100 Stream

Hi Roger,

Looks like i will be purchasing the wave box for my 48x24x30 inch SPS tank.

I want to do the "TSUNAMI" mods by placing one of my old 6100 next to it so i get a good 4 CM wave.

Now my 6100 has the old drive box (7240.26). I have a 6200 runing at 30-100% pulse with the new drive box (7240.27). I wish to switch the drive boxes between the two. Can the 6200 be run of the old drive box?

Also what other mods do i have to make to the 6100. I have read changing the o-ring, do you have a part number for this?

Do you know how long these pumps will last running at max frequency rate (IE switch on / off at the fastest rate) as this is what gives me the largest wave.

Cheers

No, you would have to buy another 7240.27, the 6200 would run but will burn out the driver in a short period of time. The new driver will come with the extra O ring. The pumps should not be harmed, the drive unit life may not be infinte and if the pump locks up you could burn out the driver but the motor itself should last, and if you keep them clean I would expect every 2 years you will just need a new drive unit.

Thanks Roger,

So i just have to buy the new driver. So the pump it self is OK.
So i just remove the cord from the old drive unit and plug it into the old one.

Can i ask what an o Ring is doing in a box full of electronics....or am i reading this wrong? Where does the additional o ring go.

Cheers

Timbo- I think your concern is because you are confusing driver with drive unit. The drive unit is just the magnet and parts that drive the prop, like any impeller these wear and need replacement. It is a $27 part so not a big deal.

The pump is OK, it unplugs from the driver, the oring is taped to the instructions of the new driver with instruction on how to install it on the drive unit, it goes inside the pump not with the electronics.
