have had it happen many a time.... usually due to a splashing although some times I've deduced it to being a "cheap" lamp. Discontinue using it immediately unless you want to play the odds with massive uv leakage...
ya i took it off as soon as i noticed it. i think it may have been caused by the cold air getting sucked into the hood from the room b/c i have them mounted about 14 " above and never had any splash hit it. by the way, does everyone have their fans blowing into the hood or out? I have an open back hood and have the fans blowing in.
i had a bulb crack from my hippo splashing it .the bulb failed before i noticed the crack . i have no fans due to my setup in basement i dont have heat issues.
it may be the hairline crack I tapped into your bulb when I was over there, but thats just my opinion. By the way, has the cyanide that I put with my rose milli poisened your reef yet?
