Mojo's New Miracles build

Hey Mojo~

Tank looks awesome!

I have a question on your lights. I guess I kinda fell inline with most in that if you have a 36" tank then you need a 36" light, 48" tank..48" light. I just ordered a 36"x24"x18" Miracles Rimless and now I'm looking into lights..I was looking at 36" t5 fixtures but now I'm intrigued by your thought on going smaller. I like the thought of less spill over but worry about sides of tank being dark. Are you still of this opinion and are you still happy with your lights? What bulbs are you using?

Others please chime in with your thoughts. I was looking at the 36" Sunlight Tek Elite T5 setup 6x39. Wondering if I should look at something in 24"..that seems wierd..like hanging a toy light over my tank.

I am really happy with the light. the biggest issue with my old 36 in tank with this light was too much par. I was bleaching out my chalices and lower light corals. Now I have much more room to work on the tank and the par is still great. If I were you I would get a 6 bulb 24 in fixture. I think if you go 3ft you will have too much or you will be raising it up and allowing even more light spillage. I only run my lights 6 hours a day. and well look at the coral. It all looks pretty good in my opinion.

hey bro vhere is your carbon pack

its in there for now its behind the reactor. once I get done playing around with the sedra 9000 I will be putting in a smaller skimmer and will rearrange the reactor and tuck the wires away and move the reactor. clean it up a little.

I ll have to look for ht thread on the np bio pellets. its kind of new and it works on the theory of carbon dosing. But only in the reactor not the whole tank. let the bacteria thrive in the reactor rather than the whole tank. We will see. So far so good.

How have all you corals (sps, etc) been reacting to the new tank with 6x39w light. Most of the "experts" would say that is not enought light but it looks pretty good from what I can see.

experts ? who are they. I have used a par meter and run one of the best fixtures money can buy. Great bulbs and its not that deep. More than enough light. I actually took 2 blue plus out and put in 2 uvl super actinics to lessen the par.

Everything is happy. what more can I ask for

enjoy !

Looks great! Pretty soon you can just kick back and enjoy your tank. The sump area is clean, I like what you've done with the place. Did you use dosers for calk/alk in your 57g or is this the first setup? I was thinking of BRS dosers in my upcoming upgrade. I ordered an Elos 120 recently. Looking forward to more room from my 34g RSM. It will be slow going, but I will do a build thread and you can see your skimmer in it's new home.

Are you using your reef keeper elite to control your ATO? I have a reef keeper lite and was thinking of trying to use is for my ATO.

I have used the dosers for about a year and a half now. I really like them and it makes life that much easier.

Yea would like to see the cone. I will be getting another cone to play with here soon as well. I always have something. You know, i have room for it now. lol I didnt back then.

Thanks for the kind words and ill keep an eye out for your build.

I like my RKE really well. I have 0 issues with. I run my lights, skimmer, return pump, fans, dosers, ATO, everything..... Anything on my tank goes through it. Heater ect...

THe RK Lite is a nice little unit. I bought the RKE for the ethernet usage before it was available for the RKL. With what I have hook up I would have already out grown the RKL.
So all in al I am happy.

Mojo,

your just running carbon and gfo passively in the two bags?

also, what is the water height? I was thinking about doing a 20" tall rimless thinking my water height would be 18". Do you like the height of yours or if you could do it again, would you go for the extra 2".

I plan on a 72 x 24 or 30 depth with a 18 or 20" height...

I have about 1.5 inches from the top. I would make it the same again yes. I am happy with it. and yes just carbon and gfo passively

Do you get a ALK stalactite growing from your dosing tube? I get one really long ever since I have my doser outlets pointing downward. They used to be in the overflow in my old tank?

Looking good by the way. Sump is clean
