Mojo's New Miracles build

Skimmer Guy
Ok, Well I have been a lurking around and watching some other builds and well mine is about to start. And I thought I would turn i up a notch. Currently running a 57g illuminata. I love the rimless tank. So I ordered a new one from miracles.

I searched for a couple tank builders and set emails to 3 or 4 and ended up with either Glass Cages or Miracles. And well there are good stories on both sides, I only hear good about Miracles tanks. So Why risk it? I placed my order several weeks ago and it is crated up and will be shipped out monday or tuesday.
The tank I ordered has a 48 x 24 footprint and is 18in high. This size will fit nicely where my current tank is and I like the tanks 20 in or less tall as I can reach into the bottom with no issues. The tank comes out to about 90 gallons. olus a sump at about 40 gallons +-. I am still torn on a 40 breeder or building a custom acrylic one.

The tank will use my current light fixture. A ATI 39x6 sunpower. I like the 3ft light and it is actually a little overkill for my oceanic tank. Not enough shade for chalices and lower light corals. I am homing for a little more shade and should give me agood balnce of light for a more mixed reef.

I will be using my eheim return pump, RKE with net, drews dosers, Vortech mp40w power heads ect... I had the stand custom built and will be picking it up Sunday afternoon. The stand I had made 3 inches taller than my current stand so the top of the tank will sit at the same height my current tank sits. The stand will be 33 inches tall. Skinned in birch and poplar. Seen a few pics but ill post some when I pick it up. So stay tuned as things start coming together Ill post pics.

here is my old tank with par readings. Nice little tank. Time to step it up.

I will be lurking to see how you do yours! As mine Is a work In progress on the same lines only smaller. I am very happy with the shallow rimless tank and actually enjoy It more than my larger tank.
But this Is about yours and I'd like to wish you good luck with your build and hope It comes out great...
Keep the photos coming, And good luck.

didn't you recently get your illuminata tank or am i just late? i'm guessing you love the upgrade bug as well as i do.

The irony of this thread is that Mojo is the resident skimmer guru and he posted his equipment list and didn't list a skimmer! :D

Nice equipment. Very similar to mine.

Mine is 48x24x24 rimless starfire with custom taller stand, ATI power module, two MP40w's, Reefkeeper, two part auto dosing. It's working out nicely.

I can do the 24" height easier since I'm 6'4" :D

Well I am 6'1 but Well i lke the ease of the shorter tank. Now for you it would probably be the same since you are so much taller.

I wondered if anyone would notice I didnt list a skimmer.
Well, I have a Warner Marine AS200 I just put on a frag tank and well it might just stay on it. So that leaves me wondering what to do. We will see. My thoughts have me thinking about the following. A ATB 840, a 840 deluxe, A new Warner Marine skimmer that will be coming out here in another month or two.(hope its ok I said that) :) Or do I build me another Mojo skimmer for it.
I have ordered a new Sicce Syncra silience skimmer pump to play around with and see how I like that. So we will see.

I did get the final bill from Miracles and Its paid in full. Should be here the middle of the week. Hoping to pick up my stand tomorrow. If its done ill post pics tomorrow. The builder isnt quite finished finishing the doors. but otherwise its done.

More to come.....

Not even considering the XP2000? I put the XP3000 on my tank to replace a Deltec and I'm loving it.

I have a XP 5000 that replaced a Reeflo Pro 200 and It's Amazing for the price! Best Skimmer Octo made so far...

No not really. They are nice Ill give them that. Well , I mut say when it comes to my own skimmer I am pretty picky anymore as I know what is out there and if I could throw them all in a blender and make one thats what I would run. Thats why I might build another.
I just dont have a lot of extra time at moment.

ok went to pick up stand today. I have it but the doors still need stained. They look good though.
Well snapped a couple shots because what good is it with out pics right?

Very nice bro. Your stand is really nice. I will be following along. I haven't had much time here lately. I'm sure you know why. ;)

Thanks. He framed it up just like yours and I basically just showed him what I wanted and he built it as I dont have the tools. Came out pretty good I think and a fair price.

Looks great Mojo. Now you'll have to host another club meeting so we can all check it out.

Well today has been pretty productive. I was able to get the inside of the stand painted with the epoxy paint. I also was able to pick up my acrylic and am putting my sump together tonight.

I assumed it shipped yesterday. I will call tomorrow as I need it held at ups freight so I can pick it up friday. The kids have me swamped everyday this week except friday. So I am hoping to pick it up then. Sump is 20 x 28 and il snap some pics here in a bit with my phone.
