Mojo's New Miracles build

Easy.... I try to amke everything as easy as I can. Keeps things stable. Even my ATO tops off itself with a float. I never add water to the ATO container. it does it all automatically.

Next is the Saltwater mixing in the garage. I have a 44 gallon brute container that I will be hooking up my RO/DI unit too. it has a float that will shut off the RO when full then I will just close the valve when I get back out there. This way I dont have to watch it. Once full Ill add my salt and let it mix. I ll have a pump and a oultet at the top of the container. The idea is to just walk out in the garage with my 5 g bucket and and flip a switch to fill it with fresh saltwater. I am hoping to get this done this weekend. That way I will just do 5 gallons a week.simple syphon a bucket and dump a bucket back in weekly. Wont change the water much and thats still 20% a month roughly.

Really nice! You make this look too easy. I now have a 90gal tank and I'm trying to get all the pieces together. I feel like my first tank, which is a RSM 130(34g) has gone well, but the thought of this new tank is a bit overwhelming. Again, you make it look easy, nice work!

CAnt wait to see the cone running....:bounce1:

Oh current fish load

Flame hawk
Blue Flasher (peacock) Wrasse
Yellow belly blue regal Tang

yea thats it. lol had a fish I added come in with something and wipe everything out. good reason to have a QT.

Thanks Sunny. Dave ( Gondore ) said he talked to you about going to T5's as well. I think he is sold on the 36 in ATI.

Yeah I just got an ATi Sunpower 6x39w for my frag tank and love it. It would look great over his 90gl. :D

I love the flame hawk. Are you worried he might jump?

Nice idea on the ATO, I definitely need to come up with a better way of ATO and water changes.

My Flame hawk has been around for some time. Only ever had 2 fish jump from any of may tanks/ blue spot jawfish and my flame wrasse

Starting tomorrow I am pulling the GFO and the Carbon and see how I do on just the biopellets, filter sock and skimmer.

I got my RO unit hooked up last night and my brute container is full this morning. it shut off and I am good to go. Now I need the pump and some plumbing. :)

Took out gfo last night. We will see how the bio pellets keep up

they cona be fine tu run the biopallets i love the stup i using that week now and is nice clear water everthing stable fore now thanks bro one more time.

No problem.

Mixed up my salt today Where I put my float gives me about 30gallons of salt water. So I can do 5 or 10 gallons or whatever I like for water changes. I bought a mag 3 for a mixing pump and will use a little mj600 for the pump to fill my bucket. :) kinda cool micing it up in advance. Never had that luxury before. I figured I would do 5 gallon water changes weekly. So about once a month I would mix up new water.

Ok its about time for a picture update. I ll have to take some pics later this week. I did pick up a couple fish so I thought I would check my water before they arrive, So I tested pretty much everything test for. Also I have been running 10 days now without GFO. only the np biopellets. So I thought It would be good to check everything as well.

Here are the results
ph 8.25
alk 7
ca 400
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
ammonia 0
mag 1450
phosphates .02

So all in all not bad. Ill have to adjust my dosers up a little on the CA and alk try to alk up to about 8 and ca to 420 to 440. But overall I am pleased. the phosphates went up from 0.00 to 0.02 but thats not bad at all. Actually the tank is looking really good and the water is nice and clear.

I will be adding a purple tang, a borbonias anthias, and a coral beauty. I will do some updates when I add the fish.

Mojo~

Hey Mojo,

Did you ever have any ph problems when you first started using biopellets? I'm going to be setting up my reactor tomorrow and I'm just wondering if you have any negative results from the pellets?

Thanks and I'm looking forward to the new pics!

Nope, not that I can think of. MY ph did swing up a little when I increased the flow through the reactor. but nothing bad went from 8.24 to 8.46 for the afternoon then back to normal.

Good to hear. I'm excited to get it started!

I am increasing the flow in the reactor once again. Using a mag 3. want the pellets to tumble more.

I picked up Borbonias anthias #1 today.
Tomorrow #2 borbonias anthias will arrive along with a purple tang and coral beauty.

Thats should about leave me stocked up. 2 borbs, 1 purple tang, 1 coral beauty and a flame hawk.

Will probably add a nice wrasse yet.

Well I added a clown about 6 weeks ago or so. And well i am not sure if it had something but it wiped out all my fish but the flame hawk. It was either something from the clown fish or not enough flow through the bio pellets. I have been reading and found that if you dont have enough flow through the bio pellets they can produce a hydrogen sulfide gas. Here is the warning from one manufacturer on them. My pellets were not tumbling in my reactor really.... so that might of done it. I have done several water changes and the tank is looking great. But within 3 days I lost my lyretail anthias, multicolor angel, powder blue, tomingi, clown, and green spot goby Not sure if it was the clown or just timing.
I have replaced the mixi jet utility 900 pump with a MAG 3 pump. I will test it and see if that gets it tumbling. if not I ll have to get a smaller reactor but I am sure it will be ok.

IMPORTANT: Maintain a high enough water flow through the Reactor to maintain a fluidized column. Too slow of a flow and you may produce a toxic hydrogen sulfide gas. This is detrimental to your aquarium ecosystem. Using a UV Sterilizer or Ozone Generator will slow the growth of bacteria in the reactor and increase the cycling time of the NP Reduction Bio Media. NP Reduction Bio Media is ecologically friendly and is totally bio degradable. Does not contain harmful PCL resins.

I have edited out the manufacture so I dont get in trouble for advertising but I thought this was an important warning to share.
