Montipora ADDICT!!!

LOL, The brown monti REALLY looks like its got some serious potential... I would get it in some stronger light, and some really really clean water and I bet it would color up!


I do have a question!

How would the Montipora Danae (blue) do under 440 watts of VHO's... 2 are Actinics and 2 are 50/50's... and 2 65 watt Duel daylight Compacts ( duel daylight is half 6500, and half 10K )

I have orderd a 5 to 6 inch Monti Danae BLUE and its supposed to be here friday... so we will see!
I work at a LFS so I checked in with one of our suppliers...
It was 80dollars and thats WHOLESALE...

Holy cow!!! Beautiful piece. How did you manage to get those colors on the same coral? I thought the rainbow monti has orange polyps along the leading edge and not red polyps like yours?

Wow thanks for the kind words! The monti is in my 58. It has 2X250 halides. I am running EVC 14k's and have thus far been very impressed with the growth and coloration I get out of them. This tank is very mature, it was set up 4 years ago. I do a 10% water change once every week or two. I use B-Ionic for my buffer and feed oyster eggs about once a week. :beer:

I just picked up my Danae that came in... NOT TOOOO SURE ITS REALLY A DANAE though...

VERY Bumpy... Ill try and get a picture of it once its placed and open...

It is NEON GREEN and Blue/Purple polyps I cant see yet...


Im thinking its Confusa?

Its encrusting... about the size of a softball.... 6 or so inches in diameter and about 5 inches tall...

It would RETAIL for anywhere between $160- and $180....

Cant wait to see it opened up!... The polyps are very bright either blue or purple... we will see... and the whole base is really awsome...
