Montipora ADDICT!!!

YEAH!!! NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKING BOUT'!!!

Pictures that turn people into MONTI ADDICTS!!! wooo hoo!

lol, sorry just a bit of wensday night humor....

Sand Dollar,

Just curious, what kind of camera are you shooting with and what lense. I have a Rebel XT that I am still learning to use. Hopefully, I'll save up some $$$ for a macro lense soon. Thanks.

All these monti pictures are wonderful and quite impressive. I have a red, green, and purple monti that have been stagnant for some time and I don't know why.

I would like to ask what has been your obvious success to having such magnificent montis.

Cheers,
John

ShawnT I'm keeping my rainbow under 2 400w DE MH. If you are interested here is my tank thread. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=829439 Here's my newest montis for a bump !

plain & not much to look at, man I hate going after some of you guys. Spectacular montis everybody !

Pooksteet,

Just using a Nikon coolpix 4500 out of the box with no special lens. It takes a little while to learn your camera...i was pretty much camera illiterate until taking thousands of pics at various settings.

Thanks Tacocat...how can you not fall in love with monti's...all the different colors, shapes and textures they come in.

Sand Dollar,

That's awesome that you were able to take such stunning pix with a point-n-shoot out of the box. Man, I really need to take some lessons.

BTW, I just trade with a local reefer for frags of the Sunset, Rainbow, Superman, and a crazy encrusting type Monti with wild burnt orange polyps. That frag is really too small to photograph right now since it's only about 1/4". Doesn anyone have something similar. I may just try to take a pic anyways to see if anyone can ID it.

Well when you can photo it.. I want it on this thread! haha

I need a better camera for takeing those really closeup pictures of corals... and a camera that gives truer color on corals ...

It used to not be that way, remember? :)

Montis? Oh yeah we have orange and green in stick or plate.

Now there are so many varieties to chose from.

Here are my latest acquisitions.

Rainbow Monti. Still very small (<3/4"). The polyps should develop better coloring once it gets bigger.

Sunset Monti at the bottom. Can anyone ID the Monti above it? It's very tiny (~1/4" or so). Has a cream body with bright/burnt orange polyps. Also an encrusting type.

It could possibly be a Superman Danae that hasnt matured yet...

AWSOME none the less...

I was just explaining to my wife last night how corals can fuse together regardless of the "color"

LOL, why do we do this? ... they don't really care....

Couple growth shots of my rainbow 1 month ago

And now today:

I got the frag over a year ago from the mother colony that Tyree got his from (the one on rarefrags.com), but it really hasn't started to grow until I put it into my current tank. That mother colony is now dead due to a heater problem so it's neat to know that mine is now of the "oldest stock".

It's not the Superman b/c the piece it came off of is the same. The Superman is actually in the same pic in the upper left hand corner. Kinda hard to see.

I see that now....

well...
DarkXerox

Seeing the pictures from before and after... So your rainbow Monti was light colored too when you first got it?

Ive noticed my frag is slowly coloring up, turning darker richer coloring...
