Montipora Eating Nudibranch

Hi fellow-reefers,

I have them. Them? Oh yes... and they are eating all my Montiporas! I know that Levamisole and Iodine and freshwater dips don't really work. Now I inserted a sixline wrasse, in the hope it will feast on those pesty nudibranchs.

I have an 8 gallon nano, so inserting larger fish is not possible.

Who thinks this wrasse will do any good? It is known to devour planaria, but nudibranches?

I'll just have to hope for the best, but any useful comments are always welcome...

I posted the same question recently and the general concensus is that monti-eating nudis are about the most difficult pest to remove. They're slowly killing my montis.

Some locals told me they had some success with putting the montis in QT and giving them a dip in Levamisole once a week. All of my montis are encrusting, and I don't have a QT with adequate lighting for corals, so . . . I'm waiting it out to see what happens. If they all die, I'll wait a few months before trying to reintroduce any.

As a preventative, always dip montis before adding them to your tank. Live and learn.
