Montipora with Kessil AP700

Hey guys, I got 2 montipora frags, what intensity are you keeping your montis under the AP700 lights? I have them mid level in the tank.

I can see the red monti starting to fade a bit. My highest light intensity during the day is 45%. I test my alkalinity, calcium and magnesium almost daily so the parameters are in check, nitrates are 2.5 and zero phosphates.

Any other tricks to keep them healthy?

That seems like a good starting point. Are these corals new? Lights new, or both? How long has your system been running? How many fish and how much/often do you feed? What is the water volume?

Corals need food and it's good to feed the fish and corals. Corals don't like the byproducts of food and waste to build up, so high input/high export.

New corals. Tank and lights are about 4.5 months old. 4 fish. Feed 2-3 times daily and spot feed the corals at least twice a week. 73G DT

I have a huge bright pink monti cap under t5s. I have sold them to lfs with kessils and they look brown under them. Alk and ca are important for monti and a ca of close to 500 make them grow fast and have a nice white rim.

Those are good numbers. What are you using to test nitrates and phosphates?

The montiporas are only a week old. The green one started growing polyps in the white area where it was cut/ fragged. The red one seems to have fading in some areas. I use salifert to test.

Did you dip them with a good coral dip to removed hitchhikers? You also need to give them some time to adjust to the new environment.

I don't do dips. So 45% intensity on the kessils is fine? I didn't want to turn them up as I'm afraid to burn/ bleach them

Too little light is much better than to much. Corals can endure low light for long periods but if it is too intense can cause severe damage in a day.
