Moorish idol with ick :( advice welcome

bullitr

broke but happy
I got him from a trade from a reefer that have him for 6 months
It eats everything now and eating like a pig but I have him on my 29 biocube without skimmer and I am feeding him a lot. He still swim like nothing is wrong with him.
I plan to do 5 gallon water change everyday
( he is a lot of work I haven't do water change on my main tank in 10 months )

I am not medicating the qt tank because it has corals in it and I don't want to stress him out .
Planning to raise the temp also to 80 but slowly since I started at 75 yesterday currently @ 77.5 Unfortanately my cleaner wrasse escape to the main tank.
What else can I do?
Thanks

I'm not quite sure... but, may be the 29 gallons biocube have something to do with that...

Dude that tank is way to small for that fish... for any fish in fact...

when I got mine about 9 months ago, it had ick.

I didnt treat it. fed it NLS pellets 4-5 times a day on auto feeder.
Nori renewed.

all "hichhicker" sponges I had in all my tanks.

PE mysis.

ALL soaked in Angellix, from brightwell, which is amino acid from sponges which Idols eat.

he then got really fat, and happy, and hasnt shown any sign of ick yet.

if you can treat it though, do it, treating the fish is the only sure way.

My idol had slight ich breakouts, but it shook it off quickly and never acted worse for wear. Either treat with copper in QT, or hope he shakes it but then he will bring ich into your display if it is not already there.

MI does need a large tank, they are very active swimmers. A 29 is way too small for long term. I hope you have a larger tank. Mine is 8' long, and I wouldn't go with less than a 6' long tank.

He has ick when I pick him up that I didnt know but it's eating well and swimming well when we do FaceTime.

Corals in qt is there to see is he will sample it so far so good

unless ure using it as a QT/treatment :)

You are correct. I didn't noticed the "qt" in the sentence "...I am not medicating the qt tank because..." and the fact that he also has corals in it...

Well. I had my blue tang with an eye infection and I had to prepare a mix of pellets, sea weed, flakes, and Nutrilite's garlic tabs. The infection was gone in about 5 days.

Hope it helps.

I really like your tank :)

my MI eats all LPS, and samples at SPS ... but that's it.

the more I feed it, the less corals it eats.

Very nice tank! This is totally off topic, but did I count at least five ocellaris in there? How do they get on with one another? It looks like they hang together a lot in the pictures. Did you add them all at once?

I had 9 clowns for 7 months
A pair of very large black and white
4 black and white
One occelaris
1 pair of true percula that' being bullied:(

I will have a scowcasso or platinium pair on my biocube after the moorish idol is out.

Lawrence,

Take the corals out and start dosing the QT with light copper. If the fish is eating right now it will not be an issue with the copper. I would also drop the salinity to 1.020 and keep it there while you dose. I put my moorish through very intensive copper and it dd just fine.

I have a 435 gallon guys so relax ...

No one is getting worked up about your display tank. But the size of your QT is another story. IMO you're only going to stress that fish to death with such a small tank, hypo, and raising the temp. IMO if you really want to QT the fish do it correctly and get a bigger tank (at least 40G IMO) and use copper. We all know parasites attack our fish when they are stressed, now you're trying to rid the fish while he is most susceptible, not going to work. I hope he pulls thru and does not go after all those amazing LPS you have, mine loves em.

Chris
I will have the 40 gallon breeder running in a few minutes even though he is not going to my main tank:( Too risky !!!! my powder blue stress the heck out of him.
But I will not put copper my friend will take him since my Achilles is doing great in his tank without copper treatment.

Thanks guys
