More evap at night than day...why??

I'm having some issues with my ATO so I have been doing it manually the last couple days. The one thing that puzzles me is the evap that happens overnight. I check the sump several times a day and haven't needed to add any water. I check it right when I get up in the morning and its down quite a bit, almost 2" from where it should be.

So why is there so much evaporation during the night?? The temp in the tank has been 82.1 during the day and falls to around 80.0 at night, does this have something to do with it??

they're evil! :uzi:

what other explanation is there? :)

the difference in water temp is insignificant in this case. House humidity would play a bigger role. More importantly- the time elapsed between checking evaporation.

So, are you saying because the house humidity is lower at night there is more evaporation??

It can't have anything to do with elapsed time between checks because I checked on it at least 3 times between 7:30am and 12am and there was no noticeable drop in the water level of the sump. All the evaporation occurred between 12am and 7:30am, while I was sleeping. This has been every night since I started doing manual topoff on Friday.

I don't know if your house humidity is lower at night. Is there a dehumidifier in your house? Do you crank the AC or run a fan at night?

If it's really actually happening... there's got to be a reason for an increase in evaporation at night.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that humidity id higher during the day it has to be the gnomes
