more laptop help needed

Our cat thought my daughter's laptop charger cord was a plaything and shredded it.
It's an apple.

A new cord = $80? :sad2:

Where can we locate a better deal?

This is why I keep therapy fish! :fish1:

I could come over with my gear and fix it if its just a simple rewiring (how much damage can a kitty do?). In no way is my offer of assistance motivated by being able to take a look at your reef... could u post a pic of the ac2dc adapter so i can see the damage plz.

I always turn to eBay for such things. I can almost guarantee that you'll find your cord at a fraction of that price.

I would suggest against finding a cheap alternative. You might find a used one or something, but there are a lot of counterfeit chargers which are just plain unsafe. The link to the picture is: here. I personally wouldn't risk it for an extra $20 or $40.

BTW: I'll let everyone decide which the counterfeit charger is

I got a couple of knock off chargers on ebay for an old powerbook. They ran hot and made me nervous. I never left them plugged in unattended and one failed within a couple of months. I bit the bullet and got the OEM directly from apple.

I've replaced just the cord itself for our charger. Had to solder it to the "brick." The hardest part was cracking the case of the brick apart which is welded together.

When you buy Apple stuff, you pay a luxury tax. Problem is, quality is not guaranteed. The magnetic charger is a great idea, but they chose a really crappy cord material which falls apart even without a cat chewing on it.
