Hi All

I have been in talks with a diver friend of mine who is located on one of the break off islands around Mauritius and he has told me that he will be going diving at the end of October to a location where he knows where to get.................................................... you guessed it, the Debelius Angelfish!

He hasnt discussed too much about price but they are very deep, he said they are about 60-80m, as you know alot of planning goes into these dives so lets hope that everything goes well with the divers as well as some beautiful Debelius surface.

Be prepared though for a hefty price tag, I would expect it to be nothing less than $ 3000.

Seriously? I think the fish is beautiful! It is becoming so exciting with all these angelfish popping up. Ill keep you posted for when he goes. I am considering taking 1? Not sure though....

Yes, please do keep us updated. I agree, I think they're amazing looking and would jump at the opportunity to own one, let alone a pair. Hopefully they can catch some juvi's!

They are amazing. I would like to fly over to join the dive but work is so tight it makes it difficult. There are 2 Debelius in captivity in 1 tank. The guy who owns then published a ocean book. Not too sure on the name.

Its exciting @ humaguy.

I think it is going to be a very awesome catch and time consuming. I am guessing that decomp time is probably gonna be 1 or 2 days.

Lets hold thumbs.

Also have heard that the Hotamatua Angels are surfacing!!!

I have to take a cold shower after reading this post!!!!! Would love a hot and deb, a hot deb for that matter would be fun too. :)

We can just hope that the rumors are true! I have been talking with my friend again and he says they really far away from where he usually dives. About 2000km. So I think he will do as much research as possible before he leaves.

This friend anybody I (we all) know per chance?
Exciting news! I'll have to try & be here more often now!

Matthew

No its no one on this forum or that anyone knows. A friend of mine that used to stay in South Africa. He moved over many years ago and he also has a love for diving.
