Back to the habit
so, with all the zoa lovers here, i figured I'ld ask...

"what's the most expensive zoas on the market and a pic if ya got em?

Purple Deaths...maybe

Purple Deaths...maybe

I know these are going for $50 or more per polyp.....

"Envy Orange PPE's" The original from Reef Envy

$100.00 a polyp

Here they are in my tank:

But I only paid 15 bucks for this frag, a friend bought a frag from the same shop with 40+ polyps for 30 dollars.

i've got family that are native okinawans and my parents are going back to visit this october-- i'm going to tell them to smuggle me some orange envies back. :P just kidding, of course!

yeah, I'd prob through the orange enveys, purple deaths, and PPE's all in the same category of most expensive. its hard to judge though, when you take into account ebay bidding fluctuations. one week someone could buy a 2 polyp frag for $150, next week same seller and it only sells for $70.

That's true too Surf.....I don't use eBay for a base line though, if somebody has deep pockets and wants it bad enough they will pay what ever it is....That's the same problem with Barret Jackson auto auction had been getting bad press cause people are using that as a price indicator.....But that is another story for another forum...But the point still remains that a auction house shouldn't be a price indicator for any product.

yeah, i understand what you are saying. but for something like ya'lls purple deaths, in which there are literally only a small group of people who have them. do you set the standard asking price?

personally, i have a problem with myself setting a standard asking price. i'd much rather leave it open to the people buying, so to determine how bad they want it, and how much they are willing to pay for it.

with ebay, the prices have more of a supply vs. demand feel to them. vs. being sold on some website, in which the person who ownes the orange enveys can ask whatever they want for them, not necessarily what the avg person is willing to pay.

not trying to argue, just trying to elaborate pros/cons :)

I hear what your saying....That probably is one of the dilemas of such things. As far as polyps like Purple Deaths I think price would be based on simiular uniqe polyps like PPEs. They price is the same sometime you can get PPEs cheaper, most of the time they tend to be more expensive. So the price point would be determand by similar items of same or equal value to a point I guess.....No arguing m8, just good debate :)

i'd say, just based on pure availability, that the purple deaths are worth more ;) but at the same time, people may not know how rare they are, and not put up the big $$

IMO, since i've been in the hobby, they are one of the VERY few zoa/palys i would give the "rare" title. i havent seen anything close to resembling those before.

i cant really comment on the orange enveys yet. i really want to see an orange envey and a RPE side by side first to get an idea on how much they contrast in color.

Here are my 30+ polyp dandys! Bought the same time as Dastank for roughly $30. Not a bad find!
