First it was the divorce, that set me back for a year, and now I just got injured in a bike accident so that we me back another month ... my tank is in a sadddd shape ... but I've been creating a bonsai rock work to install into my 210 reef tank so it will be very cool when it is done. But the trouble is all of the set back and lack of motivation .....:hmm6: some body please help me :D

Wow nice, I think you got the right idea ... I love those nemonies ... do you have any babies of those that you wanna trade?

That's actually not my tank... WISH IT WAS!!!! I'm in the works of creating an all nem tank with picasso clowns in it! I do have some anemone babies, but nothing as colorful as those... I would pay alot for one of those clones! *50/90 Violation*

Here's the link to the thread with the AWESOME tank! http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1259398

Thanks!!!

Tom,

Should I dangle an abalone in front of you to get off your butt and work on your tank!?!!? I have the motivation but don't have the time between working, commuting, $, and other hobbies.

Tom- those rock tiers are sick! I think the "open", "less is more" look when aquascaping looks soooo much better than a wall of live rock. Your tank has always been what i hope to acheive one day. I know its hard to stay motivated even without the obstacles life throws in your path. We've lost a few of our founding members this year and it would be a cryin shame if you were among those.

Prolawn ... IC, currently I don't have much to trade but soon I will, I have mostly lps right now, all my sps are gone but I'll be getting frags of those back soon

Shaned, that is mean man .... lol you know my weakness ... yeah I know what you mean. The most of the work is in the begining, after that its just keeping an eye on things and making fine adjustment so its not too bad.

Jake, I am hanging in there and not going anywhere, I gave up a couple of time in the past and keep coming back so I know that I will not give up this time. Thing is slowly taking shape and this time I want to do something different so Bonsai is the theme ... hopefully it will turn out awesome to keep me interested. I will concentrate on more lps too so lots of chalice/dendros/and Acans in addition to rare sps.

Tom,

I know what you mean. I have been there myself and am currently just getting out of a major slump. My personal 180 display looked its best in late 05 and I haven't done anything to improve it until just recently. Lack of business and funds was not the only reason. The turning point was I got sick of looking at my tanks declining. Most customers didn't really know the difference however hobbyists of your caliber and success definitely would.

It's looks like your on the right track with the major rock project and awesome light hood. I would just keep plugging along and maybe once you get closer to getting the re do done your enthusiasm and momentum will pick up. It would be a shame for you to bail out now. Our hobby needs people with your experience who are eager to share.

For me replacing corals with ones I have never kept before is giving my tank a very different look. I also have lot's of new ideas for my display and a total upgrade for the shop. Here is a shot of a section of my tank that has had some improvements. I know yours will look better than this so lets get on the ball!!

Steve, thank you for the encouragement, most of my motivation usually come from looking at tank like this. I always love the way you set up your tank and impressed by how long you were able to maintain the high level. This new one is looking awesome and I love the Acan garden. I had a simmilar idea of creating an Acan and a chalice garden. I am leaning more toward lps this time so I have a feeling we are going to be doing a lot of business/trading ... lol

Reefbass, I am hoping to have this done in about 3 weeks, after that I'll talk to you about maybe hosting a meeting in the near future.

I must say Tom after seeing your ideas on Saturday I have some new found motivation to redo my setup too. I plan on doing the stand and canopy for the 120G in the next month or so. I am looking forward to good conversation with you on the setup. Just keep plugging along because we need people with your experience level.

If Tom is up to it, we could have our next BBQ at his place and spend the afternoon working on the tank. Maybe all you need to motivate you is more hands and a few bottles of fine wine. :)

Dan, you're forcing me to let the cat out of the bag. The December meeting has been scheduled for Tom's place AND I've arranged for Randy Reed from Reef Nutrition to come speak to us at that meeting.

I've been trying hard to get meetings to happen at a variety of locations and to feature guest speakers, but not all of those whom I've approached are available or interested. In the past 4 months we've had two tank tours, a meeting at Caesars and the last at Steve's.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to line up any place or anyone special for the November meeting. However, if Tom would like us there then as well, I'm all for it. I'm happy and eager to provide assistance to any members of our club who would like it. It is the combined knowledge, experience and abilities of our members and the willingess to share and to assist that makes our club strong.

tom i bought my rbta from that lady with the sick tank. dont tell everyone i got a great deal. yes she does have baby clwns

Thanks guys for the very nice offer, I needed some encouragement and you guys did really helped me taken the next step. I went ahead and put in the new rock work inside my tank this weekend. I still have 1/3 of the tank to finish but beside that I am pretty much done. My body is still injured so I was a little worn out afterward, I'll have to pace my self and recondition myself back into shape. The chalice garden is turning awesome, I can't wait to see them grow out. I'll have pictures very soon.

Next month I'll make a trip to the bay area to get corals donation from my bay area reefer buddies, and some of the North bay reefers buddies. By December my tank should look ok enough for hosting the meeting.

Bob, cool ... I can't wait. I'll give you a call when I am ready in a couple of weeks .... The tank is looking cool so I am excited. "Have fragging tools will travel" :D

Ken, Northbay, northcoast, wine country, I can't keep up ... lol ...

Now I have to force myself to clean the skimmer, the filter sock, and test the tank parameter on a regular basis ....
