Mounting problem

Hi Roger,
I just received my (2) Turbelle 6100 stream pumps and controller. I have one of the brackets assembled but I can't get it to stay on the edge of the aquarium. It seems like it is too short to get a grip. I have an acrylic aquarium with a 3/4" top. The openings are rounded over (1/2" radius) which causes the clamping mechanism to slip forward into the tank.

Regards,
Kevin

Outside of drilling the acrylic to accomodate the bracket or filing away the rounded edge I don't think it can be made to work. Do you have an overflow box or other surface the pump can be connected too? You could drill a very small hole to accomodate a plastic nut and screw in the brace as an alternative.

I find it hard to believe that this isn't a common problem as these pumps are designed for larger tanks. With the expense of these units you would think a simple problem like this would be addressed. I bought both the extension and adapter kits just to make sure I wouldn't have any trouble installing the pumps. A 1/2" longer clamp would do the trick.
I will find a way to mount them and give feedback on how they perform. Maybe some pictures too.

Regards,
Kevin

We generally don't see these problems because most aquariums don't have the rounded lip you mention. Acrylic is also quite uncommon outside of the west coast of the US. Outside of the magnet holders which will be released soon and the Stream Rocks I just don't have any other solution.
