Moving H Crispa Question

Morning!

Ok - so I have to move my H. Crispa to a different tank... My question is this... The new tank has a much deeper sand bed (I actually added new sand yesterday and have waited for it to settle to make it much deeper for this guy) and I'm wondering... I was going to dig a hole like kind of under a rock and down in the sand and place his foot there... Will digging that hole damage or release anything in the sand bed?

FYI - the sand bed was about 2 inches yesterday (and about 4 months old) then I vacuumed off the top layer and added about 3 inches...

Thanks for ANY advice or help you can give me about this move!

The H. Crispa has been very healthy in my other tank - but hasn't ever dug into the sand - kind of 1/2 attaches to the rock or onto the top layer of sand - but never really dug in... So I was thinking my sand bed wasn't' quite deep enough.

Anyway - let me know your thoughts - and don't hold back if I'm doing anything wrong! Thanks - Kim

Thanks Georgia - Ok - so what would you do then? Would you place it atop a rock if you were placing it in a new tank?

Mine has been pretty much just sitting in the front of my tank - with his foot sometimes attached to the front rock. It's not strongly anchored though. Like when I just went and looked this morning - his foot isn't attached at all - but he's not moving in the flow either. He's some how staying in the same place - but his foot is just laying sideways across the rock?

Some have said this nem may actually be H. Malu... I know Garygb thinks so.

Here is the nem in question. Any advice that anyone can give as far as what they'd do to put it in it's new home would be greatly appreciated!

By the way - it's not as dark as it was (I'm noticing as I look at the old pics) That's not good...

Kimsie I do remember Garygb thoughts, he could be right. If the anemone seems fine I would just let it be. If it's not broken don't fix ;) Mine just seems to attach to the rocks. It seems to like my back wall in between the rocks and the glass. If you must put it in other tank I would just put it where the least flow is and beside the rocks. I learned with mine, it doesn't matter where I want it, it will go to where IT wants to be. Good luck

Since sebaes normally prefer sand, I'm going to guess both of you may be low light, which will make them climb rock reaching for more light.
Scooping one little area is no big, but when adding sand, only add about 1/2" every week or so, so critters in sand can keep up.
When I did transfer, I scooped a hole between 2 rocks.
This way they are protected from flow until they attach, and can stretch out for light/flow as needed.

Oh that's plenty.
Usually when I hear attached to rock, I think higher up reaching for light, but down near sandbed is where it should be.

Yeah - mine was on the sand on a rock too...

And that's where he put himself in the new tank! Weird...
