Moving to Tampa, FL

Allaboutreef- I am going to ask you to take a step away from this thread because you are doing more harm than good. Your person agenda my be the root of this misinformation, but a guy says he is moving to the Tampa area and you have to ruin his first experience, GROW UP.

I admit I have gone to all the stores in the greater Tampa area, have been reefing for awhile, and I have to says that John at FAOIS knows what he is talking about. Not to discredit all the other LFS owners in the area, because a lot of them have a bunch of good info as well, but give it up. Just get off of this and move on, because the thread is showing very contrary views to your obvious personal agenda of dragging John through the mud, which he doesn't deserve.

PS Go read a book.

Please carry on with a civil dialog folks.

Well this is an expensive hobby, so it is possible that you are in the wrong stage of your life to have such a so called "expensive" hobby.

David,
If you are ever in Sarasota, there is a nice little spot off of siesta key called point of rocks. Not sure of any places up in the tampa area to go diving..

Thanks mhurley. None the less David, welcome to a great area. There is a whole lot to do with reefs, outside activities, nightlife and so on. There are a bunch of really great people here. WELCOME. ---Chris

Yeah the biggest concern was the area we picked. We assumed it would be pretty nice based on the quality of the complex and the fact that it is somehow technically on a private island but we were hoping that some locals might have some better insight.

BTW I'm not affected by the drama - at all. I spent 4 years in the branch of the military that has the biggest number of slime balls of them all, can you guess which one? (Don't say anything if you know) So I do pretty ok dealing with idiots.

Well I am glad thats what you think. I think that area is good, however, I live out in the boonies just south of Brandon. If you are happy with the place and you are only renting I think you said, you will only be under contract for a year. No big deal, you know?

i had to make things clears for everyone that misunderstood me

i think that FAOIS is a nice store, they have nice fish and corals the store is nice looking but it is still expensive to me. dont have too much stuff to offer tho

marine warehouse is the same as FAOIS

coral reef on armenia and water is worse

now holiday aquariums is cheaper than the stores i just mentioned and is proven by me and some other people cuz they go to the stores i mentioned, but their system is old cuz it was bought like that

but everything got out of hand cuz everybody got emotional

and i do not work at a damn fish store

I'm sorry, I literally almost fell out of my chair laughing!!!!!!!!!

Why not take this conversation to PM? I mean, look at the title of the thread.

Is that an island? I didn't know it was an island there. I have some friend they used to live there and it was very nice. Clean, secure, accessible, lost of places near and easy to get everywhere from there.

Just take a map and drive around. You are going to find lots of things to do.

WOW I started the 4th page :D

Hi David, My name is David and I live in a neighborhood just borth of Raymond James Stadium. I can walk there within minutes. now The Immediate bay area does not have any kind of coral reefs or anything like that, but there are a variety of seagrass beds immidietaley within your area. in fact Mobbley bay has some seagrass beds on the northern part, and thats only literally a stones thrwo away. you can access from SR60 or even upper tampa bay park, which you are literally only a few minutes south of.

also, tarpon springs is in pinellas county, only like 20-30 minutes from your location and also has wonderful aquatic scenery if you are diving or snorkeling. The town is home to the largest thriving live sponge industry in the western hemisphere. check it out.

Davis welcome to Tampa your coming at the best time of the year. Fall is perfect, not to hot and not to cold! We live in Tarpon Springs near Howard Park and the Sponge docks and as the other David mentioned, it's worth the visit.

My husband owns Holiday Aquariums. Lots of talk about our store here. We have had it a little over a year and it has been just like the tanks we have owned, slowly watching it grow and get better everyday. Alvis (the owner) worked at the store before buying it, because aquariums are his favorite thing...maybe a bit of an addiction. I don't know if he is the cheapest but he is fair and does this purely out of passion. When you love what you do it shows in your work.

Have a great day everyone.
