MP40 Quiet Drive- Anyone else have a review of it?

Today I received 2 Mp40qd's and I feel that it is not what I expected. Here are the issues that I have discovered.

-The box is a recycled box of the original mp40w.... Literally, they placed stickers all over the box changing it to a "quiet drive". It doesn't feel like a world class product before you even open up the box..

-The controller is now black and looks pretty nice.. It seems though that they forgot to print the model on the controller, so the put a super cheap looking sticker on the front that reads "mp40". In time that will just wear off or fall off.

-The motor side of the pump looks like a child sanded it down with sand paper. This is where the motor meets the spacer. In fact, there was sanding shavings on it still lol. I will take some pictures to show you, but it looks really bad.

-The transformer has a standard power cord like you would find on the back of a computer. It feels that the power cord does not seat very well in the transformer itself. I looked at the power cord closer and the plug that goes into the transformer is the longer by about 1/4 than the port on the transformer. While it works, it falls out very easily.

Don't get me wrong; the pump performs well and is very quiet. It is just tough to buy pumps like these and find so many dislikes.

I am a big supporter of this company, and own 5 radion gen 3 pros, reef link and now 2 of these pumps. I just wish they were built a bit better..

Thoughts?

My MP40QD had none of those things. Perhaps you got early models by mistake? Can you show pictures.

In regards to the box, I'd rather they put stickers over old boxes instead of throwing them all away and printing new ones. They were probably sitting on a lot of old boxes in a warehouse and throwing them away just to make new ones would be pretty wasteful.

The other items listed do seem odd for a high end, expensive product.

I am all for green manufactures! But it appears the unit itself was a mp40w, and retrofitted after the fact into a mp40qd.. That kinda stinks in my opinion.....

I'm probably in the minority here but who cares what the box looks like? As long as it arrived ok, functions quietly as it should and is brand new.

Your right, it functions flawlessly. That was never the issue. The box was just the start of the "cosmetic" issues. The power cord falls out, the sticker for a model number on the controller and so on.

the power cable needs to be inserted into the power supply further for full engagement.

I assumed the same thing, but it just won't go. This is on two units. I then measured it and the plug is about 1/4" longer than the port.

No comments on the other issues Ecotech?

We have a Mp40qd and have none of the issues you described.

Box was perfect, unit looks new, and as with all our past Ecotech Marine products, quality was incredible.

(We have a few Mp10s, battery backups, two radions, 1 reef link, etc)

Maybe I received a fluke shipment. Weird

Did you see my pictures?

Mea culpa .... went and actually checked. Stickers on my box and controller too. I guess I was so entranced by the lack of noise that I never noticed that the box that will spend its life squirreled away in the attic and the controller that is hidden away in my stand had stickers on them. Not an egregious fault IMO.

I can assure you the new MP40qd is not a retrofit since the entire pump is a new design. The only part usable from the ES is the power supply.
