Mr. Peanut's paradise (40Breeder)

Cool!

So this will sit in your sump? Or it is your sump? You are only lighting it from one side or two sides?

And yes, definitely get the ATS running/seeded with algae before taking out your chaeto.

I made the legs just wide enough so it sits right over my baffles on my sump. One leg will be in my drain (first) chamber where my skimmer is now, the other in my refugium. Pump will be in first chamber and the skimmer screen will be over my refugium. Until I can get a stronger pump it will just sit then once I can use it I will light it from one side then ill buy another light (hopefully DIY with red and blue LEDs) and light it from both sides.

Yeah, I'll keep some of the chaetomorpha until I can get this seeded. I'm also thinking f taking off the 1" PVC and doing the whole thing 1/2" I'll just need 1 end cap, 2 90 degree elbows I already have the 1/2" PVC.

Anyone interested in a slightly used in great condition skimmer? It's an SCA-301 skimmer bought brand new some months back for $85. Rated for 65 gallons.

Since I don't see any way to put CDs or DVDs in it, you must be talking about another kind of media! :)

Trickle filter and bio-balls?

Frag condo?

What media you gonna put in there?

Cassettes :)

Trickle (floss, chemipure, ???)

Frag condo/divider to newly located return (center)

As seen from outside sump.

I'd love to see your mangroves. Also, is that frag rack sitting inside the tank or how's does that work?

I'll take a picture of them tomorrow, the frag rack is in my sump. Water comes in through the media rack, out the bottom, through the frag rack, over the wall and into the return.

Look at all that beautiful root growth.... Not bad for only a few months.

What are you using the mangroves for? Nutrient removal or ???

I don't think they are very good at nutrient removal. They grow too slow. I seem to remember they also mess with Mg.

Well, the mangroves along with the chaetomorpha have been keeping my nitrates in check so far. While they do grow very slow mine have grown about 2" in 4 months. Also, they did not have any roots when I got them just some stubs that are still there but all that growth is new.

Guess I should have kept my sump as it was.... I think I just lost most if not everything in my tank except the fish :(

either a crash or it started a cycle again.... i think from having stirred the deep sandbed in the sump when i removed the sand to redo it.

I can't imagine how stirring up a DSB can take out everything that fast? Even zoas/palys? Sorry to hear about that.
