you can use any tank you wish, acrylic, or glass, with glass the only thing you need to know, you can't make a hole in tempered glass (most makers do bottom, while others do the whole tank.
is not ozong port is "ozone port" use to inject ozone
here is my ozone generator (setup) & sump glass drilled, showing skimmer pump, next to wave 7

Hows this for wet skim?

So is that any better?? Im barebottom and need to skim wet. After looking at a bunch of people running wet i tuned it into this and it looks pretty much the same to me. The bubbles pop and the popped junk goes in the collection cup and on the side of the cup walls. Does this look good to you? Thanks guys!

heres a semi close up.
the waste collector is filling up nicely so it must be doing its job! I emptied it right when i tweaked the skimmer CORRECTLY and it already has almost an inch of junky water in there. That tea sure looks tasty!
BTW im running a mr-2r on a panworld 100px-x pressure pump. its working great so far!

I know many of you have youre outlets above the water line going back to the sump, but I want to put my skimmer out of the sump, its a MRC-2, and I'm tired of the tight space that I have to go through to get to it for cleaning. I have a acrylic 55 sump. Can , or Should I have the skimmer body raised up so it gravity drains to the sump..... or can I have the skimmer body on the floor and drill the sump to accept the drain outlet ? If I go the latter way I would then have to put the tee extention siphon breaker on it.....but what way is better ? which is going to perform better for me? or is there not a huge difference if I were to go either way ? Also I would like to get the 90 ell off the top of the beckett, I can't remember how I saw you guys did that.

having the outlet above the water level removes the back pressure on the unit, making it easier to keep it adjusted. Drilling through the glass i don't think you would need a T as it should be no different than if you have the unit sitting in the sump.
You know how the unit runs now so why not set it up temporarily raised and see if you like it that way, if you don't then drill the sump and return it to the level its currently at.

Sorry, wrz0170 for borrowing your pics,
I've got a 65g aga tank and would like to know if I could plumb my drain flow to my MR-1 and put the skimmer out side the sump. Then feed the water back into the sump from the skimmer.
Could I do the same as in the picture? I thought the MR-1 requires a strong pump to run the skimmer?
If I run my skimmer out side the sump - how big of the pvc pipping should I get - from the gate vavle? is it 1.5" pvc?

I first tried what was suggested in the pic. However, the pump really struggled to get water from the sump, up, over and down and then up again. It sounded like a bad washing machine. I tried everything as far as trying to prime it, etc.
I eventually had to drill my sump and do a straight intake. Drilling is not as bad as it appears. Very easy.
My pump did work like a champ, I say past tense which leads my to my next post..........

I had a little water accident and I think my pump got wet. Everytime I try to plug it in, it trips the GFCI. I don't think thats a good thing.
It's a Gen - X PCX-30, does 820gph.
1. Any chance for it to survive?
2. How long can a tank go without skimming, I am still learning how to dial it in, so not like it was skimming all that great yet.
3. If my pump is shot, any recommendations? My LFS only carries Coralife, one that does 790gph. Would there be an improvement going a little higher?

I'm suprised you had problems running the pump up and over the sump wall. My PCX 55 is set up like that and it works great and is quiet.
I don't think going to a more gph pump would be good, due to the small reaction chamber size. I see the coralife pumps are new, (I started a thread yesterday as well to see if anyone was using them, no reports yet), so not sure how they perform or how much heat they transfer. I'd check with Andy to see what other pumps he recommends. I was going to go with the blueline 30HD to run my MR-1, but never got around to doing it, and now i'm upgrading that skimmer so i'll never know.
