Overflow (The amount of water going into the skimmer is controlled by another valve you cant see in the picture. Basically you tee it of, then under the tee either put a gate valve or a ball valve to control the amount of water going into the skimmer.)

Thanks but I do have a couple more questions.

It looks like you have the water entering the exit on the skimmer....assuming that grey pipe continues down then makes a 90 bend, am I missing something?

Also what is the tall grey pipe in front of the T?

The pump I have coming is the Iwaki MD 70 RLT, will this need a gate valve to restrict its flow? 1500GPH..

that tall grey pipe is on my exit water line. No the water is entering through that tubing followed by the union after the ballvalve. Yes the grey pipe continues (that pipe sticking up with the cotton in it is to release back pressure; no water comes outta here it just helps with pressure and noise.)

Im not quite sure on what you mean by you're gonna have to use a gat valve on your pump? Is the pump you are talking about the return or the pump for the skimmer??? If its the return i doubt your drains are gonna even be able to handle it.

If its the skimmer pump then you arent gonna need any valves on its out put (unless you want one so you can close it off when you clean the pump; i suggest a true union ball valve.)

Does this clear things up a little more??

Yea that helps, thanks alot.

Nope that pump is only going to drive the skimmer. Just didn't know if that would be to many GPH for the skimmer.

Also what would you estimate the GPH from the overlow you move through the unit?

Do you have any leaks with the quick release? I have had others complain about it leaking etc.

I do not have a quick release on my skimmer (or atleast i dont think i do..... :))

Im gonna say i get about 400-500 GPH from the overflow.
 
yea you do it is the grey thing in the second riser tube.......

you can just unscrew it instead of the 8 thumb screws... Andy said he could build it either way for me the quick release comes standard on mR-2r, but I was thinking about declining the option.
 
ah you mean the union around the skimmer. I havent had any leaks around it and I really like it because it makes cleaning a breeze. Sorry I thought you were talking about banjo quick disconnects. My b.

Thanks for your quick replies.... that should give me some good points to be thinking about while I wait on my equipment.

Anyone here ever used one of his Kalk reactors?
 
Ive only heard bad stories about his reactors exploding for some reason. I do not know why, but maybe people are hooking them up wrong??? Possibly too much pressure caused becasue they have it hoocked up directly to an Ro/Di system? Thats all I can tell you about his kalkreactors.

Well that didn't make me have any warm fuzzies.

Guess we will just have to wait and find out. <crossing fingers>
 
Well,

I finally started up my MR-3, and it immediately started pulling gunk out of my system, even though it is only re-circing water to/from the sump. Here is a crappy, slightly blurry pic.

i just joined the mrc mr2 club with a single injector . i have a question does the air needle vaulve need to have tephlon tape on it? also how far should it go in?

You should put teflon tape on it, to make sure it isn't drawing in air. Be careful when screwing it in though.

Mine screw in almost all the way, but you may want to build up the teflon tape on the outside most threads so it doesn't go in all the way.

Any Kalk reactor that has "exploded" was connected incorrectly. If you follow the instructions that will never happen. No kalk reactors can be connected directly to a Ro/DI unit because of the pressure that builds up inside the reactor based on the Ro unit. There have been about 5 that have done this in 5 years.
 
yeah andy thats what i was thinking. I still wanna buy one of yours though, cuz i love your work and it is a good price and looks very easy to use. Ill be contacting you after the holidays :)

Hello, i just received my mr3 w/a single injector and quick release. I got the blueline 70 pump. Bought it used off a member here on rc. Is there anything that i should know while starting to do the plumbing? why do people put ball valves between the pump and injector? I hope this club is better than the asm club. They suck..hahha im such a traitor.
