I believe the problem to be your injecting more air now, and the drain from the skimmer cup isn't large enough to evacuate that air effectivly, so the air is trying to escape elsewhere.
Try this, remove the lid when the skimmer is running and see if the foam spills over much quicker. This is what I just noticed yesterday.
I'm thinking of adding a second drain line to let the air out much easier. Just contacted Andy as well to see what he thinks.
Yes the very same way.Originally posted by wrassie86
Anyone done the Air hole in the lid mod? I know i it seen listed somewhere that if done right, the skimmer would still have the auto off.
Is it done the same as with the table tennis ball?

Yes the very same way.
That's what I am running and yes the cap has to be air tight(not hard to do with teflon tape). No pics, I kind of have everything crammed under my 90 and it's hard to get oneOriginally posted by Saltfun2003
Im going to be ordering a mrc-2 and was thinking of useing a gen-x55 pump to drive it. I read some pages back about useing an up and over the sump because i am not able to drill the tank right now. So if you run it up and over then put a T in on the downward side to fill with water to start the pump? Does the cap on the t have to be air tight? Has anyone done an up and over with a genX? Pics would be great if you have any.
Thanks

Ok guys I am thinking of trading in my ASM G6. My total volume is 400 gallons. I am eyeballing either the MRC4 or 6. How close are MRC ratings. For example my G6 is rated for 1200 gallons but most people figure its good for 600. To me a 600 gallon skimmer on a 400 gallon tank is perfect
