Anyone have problems with the MRC Kalk Reactor (newer model)?
Are they easy to seal and... any problems with the stirrer?

Ok, I'm a little stumped. I am going to have a small sump built for my tank, a 37g Oceanic. I don't have a lot of room. I'm looking for a good skimmer that's going to be with me for a while(in case I upgrade). I was looking at the MR1. I know Becketts take a pretty big pump to run them, so I'm a bit worried about heat in such a small tank(I'm running MH as well). Is this skimmer going to be a bit of overkill for my tank? Also, will I more than likely run in to heating issues? I would have to run a Mag 12 in addition to the Mag 5/7 I would run for the return pump. THanks.

Milhouse, your best bet for the MR-1 would be a external pump like a Blue Line 30 or equivlant, although don't know if those would add heat or not. I wouldn't run a Mag 12 for the skimmer (if that's what you were thinking) as I know that will add some heat, plus not run the skimmer the best.

Does anyone think going from a GRI 520 (27.5' max. head) to a PCX-70 (39' max. head) on dual injectors would be that much better? Thoughts?

Definitely , I tried the genx pcx 55. gri520, and panworld 200ps (1750gph) The pan world gave me the best performance. I open the air valve on the becketts just a bit and I get a mess of tiny white bubbles up the the collection cup.

A mag 12 will add A LOT of heat to a 37(especially with a Mag 7 also) plus I don't think you will be happy with the performance like Ereefic said. A smaller pressure rated external pump would work much better.

Im going to be buying a mr-2. Which pump works best still dont know if im going to do the injector addon. Dont have that much experince with external pumps. The only one that i run now is a panworld 50px-x. Is this the same pump as the blueline pumps? Im looking for a pump that saves the most energy and doesnt heat up the water. If i did the injector upgrade how much bigger of pump do u need?
Thanks

I run a PCX55 on a MR-2 with a single injector, works great. Panworld and Blueline are basically the same, just the model # are a bit different.

Is a single drain from the collection cup to restricting? I ask because I can pull the lid off while the skimmer is running and it pushes much more foam into the cup, until I put the lid back on.

By adding another vent, will this help increase performance? I would think I could run the water level lower by doing this?

That and the Bl-panworld's are quieter and run cooler from my experience.

Is the Panworld model Pan World 50PX-X Magnetic Water Pump
comparable to the blueline?

I am using a Mag-drive 24 on my MRC-2 which is 165 watts.

The Pan World 50PX-X is only 90 watts

Plus a 2-year full manufacturer warranty on parts and labor.

Max Flow: 1110gph
Max Head: 13ft
Power: 90W
Fittings (Inlet/Outlet): 1" MPT / 1" MPT
Dimensions (L x W x H): 10" x 4" x 5"
Comparable to Iwaki: 30RLXT

Will I get the same performance as my Mag 24 on my MRC-2

How would you recommend to vent it without leaking foam/skimmate? Another drain to a collection container? Other?

Dont do it ereefic, you'll lose the auto shutoff feature. If you want better results, make a carbon air filter and remove all 90's from the pump to the becket.

Why not just run a double drain to the waste container and make the output of the waste container bigger? That shouldn't affect the auto shut off of the skimmer, right?

Ereefic add the auto feature to the lid. This has to do with back pressure on the skimmer not water flow.

So, your saying tap another drain into the lid and run it to the waste container?
